This headline sounds like it was written by my grandparents. I turned on the radio and heard a song by the U2 all you kids are talking about these days.

Aaaand that's what I get for the page not loading and assuming a BBC article's topic.

U2 doesn't make bad music.  Odd.  If they did how come they are relevant for 20+ years?

Ah yes, another band it is 'cool' to hate.  How amusing.  Please tell me about the really cool bands you listen to. We're both sure I've never heard of them.

Wow! ^^^^^

I actually read the article before I came here...

Bravo subby!

Relevant to whom exactly? Billionaires who move their corporation out of their home country because they're so "proud to be Irish" but don't want to pay taxes to support the country do not have anything in common with (and therefor relevant to say to) the rest of us. The Edge seemed like a nice enough guy in that guitar movie with Jimmy Page & Jack White, but Bono is just a massive steaming pile of self-importance (yah yah yah!). 20 Courics at least..

A little dog named "Snuggles"?

So U2 started out as pretentious douchebags who made some pretty decent tunes and then became a parody of big colusium bands and then became a big colusium band.

Their first two albums were interesting at best; starting with the third album and Brian Eno producing they became homogenized pablum suitable for the same people that think Dave Mathews is good. I have no explanation for their popularity other than longevity. The Edge does seem like an okay guy, but as a guitarist he is a one trick pony. I recommend Gary Clarke Jr.

That said, the article is about the U2 spy plane.

What? The consensus was that they put out some good stuff.

We liked them before they were popular

FTFA: "We can eat through tubes in the helmet and most of the time we're able to listen to music or something to keep our minds occupied, to keep alert."

I wonder if they listen to U2.

U2 has continued to make good music well into middle age, without trying to adopt a totally new sound; that has enabled a younger, snooty, sneering crowd to dismiss the entire body of their work with words like pablum, because it makes them sound like real music critics. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, but U2's music is not 'pablum', any more than the Rolling Stones music was.

/and so I've responded to subbys troll.
