Those are most likely Swahili names, and a lot of Swahili comes from Arabic. So, in a sense, yes, they are African but someone from say, Kenya, Namibia or Cote d'Ivoire wouldn't consider them so.

I can't imagine anyone at the Peckerwood, TX zoo thought that carefully about it.  I'm sure the name "groceries" was because someone thought it sounded pretty - I'd be surprised if the other ones weren't as well.
