All we need now is wooden sidewalks and dirt streets so we can get back to the old west.

The man then left the bar and came back in a side door and began shooting

If only it were illegal for him to have brought that gun into the bar....Certainly, he would have seen a sign or something and came to his senses!

"I'll take the murder rap, but ain't no way I'm risking an unlawful carry charge!"

Ohio lets you carry in the bar, if you're not drinking.  The shooter wasn't carrying until after he was getting his ass kicked and he left the bar.  So their "carry in bars" statute was not in play.  He wasn't concealed nor open-carrying, but instead brandishing as soon as he grabbed his piece which is illegal everywhere unless you're in the act of self-defense.  Hard to argue that he's be covered by any sort of "self defense" allowance since he started the fight, so that's not in play.

And in his mind, neither were their "no punching people" and "no shooting people that are defending someone you're punching" statutes evidentally.

Did he do it politely?

factoryconnection: Ohio lets you carry in the bar, if you're not drinking.

I was going to comment that it's ridiculous that it's OK to carry a loaded gun while drunk, but it's not OK to get behind the wheel, but it seems that Ohio has this at least partially covered.

I empathize completely with gun restriction advocates, but I gotta say that this is a weak anecdotal.

That depends on whether the victim was white or some other race. Brown people are inherently threatening and so self-defense always applies in such cases.

Wyatt Earp banned guns in Tombstone. I think most of the old west sheriffs did.

RTFA: this is brown on brown, and one of the shooting vics was a cop.  Good luck with that one, Mista!

thamike: I empathize completely with gun restriction advocates, but I gotta say that this is a weak anecdotal.

This story is not one from which people should base their arguments for or against gun rights/restrictions... unless this Mista character happens to have a history or mental health or criminal issues.  They didn't even mention if he was drinking or not.

And of course this has nothing to do with 'open carry', well played subtard.

Yeah, they don't cover the bar shootings in tightly controlled states like Illinois.....there are too many.

So no self-defense, no open carry, no gun carried into a bar, no concealed carry license, but it's the "lax" gun control that caused this.

Thanks Submittard.

Nice trolling headline.  Fark should just build in a troll bait checkbox for the three-per-day bar shooting threads:

1.  Only black/brown/white people shoot each other at bars
2.  If only guns were banned/allowed....
3.  Bar shootings only happen in Florida.
4.  All of the above

Ohio does open carry? News to me!

I'm sure nobody ever got shot in a bar in Chicago.

Thank goodness, another stealing, lying, kidnapping, vicious thug is off the streets and where he belongs, underground.

Sucks that a patron and bartender got gunned down too but war is like that.  Glad someone is willing to rid this world of gang members who hide

Even if you aren't drinking, you can only carry if there isn't a sign prohibiting it. In other words if the bar owner allows it. There's no situation where drinking and then reentering would be permitted.

The best you can argue in this case is that carry laws resulted in him having a gun his car that he could then access illegally while angry after drinking. Of course, he could also have driven home, gotten his gun and reentered the bar.

Killed in the shooting were 26-year-old Elmore police Officer Jose Andy Chavez, 28-year-old bartender Ramiro Sanchez, and a 25-year-old customer, Daniel Ramirez. A fourth man shot at the bar, 25-year-old Ramiro Arreola, was taken to a hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

Mexican people problems?

Considering how the guy didn't carry his weapon into the bar, but rather returned with it already intent on breaking the law, the headline fails.

But it being Fox, I'm honestly surprised they didn't go with some form of "Mexican people problems."
