I dunno, that was the first good bit of writing I've seen from her.

2014-03-10 01:17:41 PM
From the comments:

A vociferous promoter of perversion, Lena Dunham, a product of the pedophile Talmud "Synagogue of Satan," obviously is a product of child molestation, hence the habitual psychiatric drug use.

Why should she apologize, unless it was her uncle who couldn't take the joke.  Otherwise, since it was about her, if you don't like, don't watch.  Free country and all that.

That said,... who?

Wait, this doesn't jive.  Fark was just telling me yesterday that Dunham's SNL appearance was an unmitigated disaster.

HotWingConspiracy: I dunno, that was the first good bit of writing I've seen from her.

Yeah, it wasn't bad. Needs a little polish though -- a two-sentence punch line is less than ideal and the second sentence just muddies things. Probably should've been "that's not what my uncle used to tell me."

Even better, she could've changed "uncle" to "babysitter" to give it a little bit extra sting.

Either the worst or best thing on television depending on who you ask.

/still haven't watched it so I don't know

I've never watched her show, and from what I've read I don't have a whole lot of interest. But I find the repeated raging hate boner threads about her a little unseemly.

Agreed. I think "Girls" is a stupid stupid show, but the joy people seem to take in insulting her is creepy and off-putting. Even for the internet.

I hate her specifically because she's a broad who ain't in the kitchen frying me up an egg sandwich.

It was.  Worst ratings of the season.  But I don't blame her, even though Girls is complete garbage.

SNL doesn't really set up folks for success anymore by writing good sketches, and so the last few hangers on are finally coming around to realizing the show has lost it's flavor.

I have watched her show... and I think it is funny.  I don't find it to be railing against the patriarchy as much as some suggest.  But it certainly does present young women in a manner something other than a product for male consumption.  I can see how that may rustle a few jimmies.

Kate McKinnon seems funny, but would be funnier on places besides SNL. Kind of how Kristen Wiig is better in movies than she was on SNL.

Yeah, i don't get it, either, and I don't see what she's specifically done to inspire all of this hate. I'm just kinda Meh about her, probably couldn't sit through her show, but I feel no ill will towards her.

The Girls star, who regularly strips off in scenes for her hit Tv series...

Ewwww, really?

She has to get naked. Otherwise she doesn't have any other redeeming quality for anyone else to pay attention to her at all.

She's gross and unattractive.  And you're creepy and off putting.

I can't imagine what the SNL audience ever did that caused them to be punished with her being shown naked, even if she was pixelated. It was even more disturbing than the usual unfunny skits.

So am I the only one who doesn't get what the big deal is with this woman? I get that she writes, produces and stars in a reasonably successful cable show but her farking face is like everywhere. If theres something I'm missing I wish someone would let me in on it.

Girls has essentially no redeeming qualities.  It is not funny.  None of the characters or their motivations make any sense.

And there's also lots of tits, so it is indeed packaged for men and the women are repellent on top of it all.

van1ty: Girls has essentially no redeeming qualities.  It is not funny.  None of the characters or their motivations make any sense.

Based off the first few episodes which I watched (and then just stopped watching thereafter because it was too overwhelmingly "meh" for me), I'm assuming the entire show is based around characters without clear, rational motivations or pursuits. Perhaps in the newer episodes/seasons that dynamic has changed a bit, but from what I saw, the show looked to be about "atypical post-collegiate disaffection" as the best description I can come up with at the moment.

While what I put in quotes is (albeit probably poorly described) a very real thing in the world, having that as a prevailing thematic element basically means "there better be some AMAZING dialogue and plot developments otherwise this will get very boring very fast".

Is this the thread where we spend lots of time hating on a show we've claimed to have never seen and do this over and over while claiming it doesn't really matter to us?  Want to make sure I'm in the right place.

i've never watched girls, and i barely know who this dunham chick is

having said that, i thought her snl was one of the better episodes of the season. well, at least among the average...not anywhere near the worst. even a lot better, unexpectedly to me, than jim parson's episode.

as far as her looks...i've done worse, sober and on purpose. no matter her motivation for repeated nudity, i admire it, and would invite her over, if not for the wife's disapproval

also, while looking her up online yesterday, i saw a link to her dad. look up the artwork of carrol dunham...that may explain at least a little bit about why lena is the way she is

I just realized that the "topless" woman in the still from the SNL promo was not Lena Dunham. I couldn't figure out why people kept saying she was ugly. It makes sense when I realized that the frumpy soccer-mom looking woman on the right was Dunham.

Unfortunately, the completely crude and sexist comments surrounding Dunham has shielded her from a far more fair criticism: she's not original, and she's not funny.  Many people who have seen Girls (I've seen a few episodes) leave the show wondering how in the hell Dunham got the gig.  There was one moment where I giggled.  The rest of the time it's just a more droll version of Sex in the City with some updated jokes and vernacular.  It doesn't deserve the adoration, and Dunham doesn't deserve the sexist hate, but somewhere in the middle is the valid criticism that it's just not a good show.

Yyyyyesss, but the question is how she managed to get it produced, financed, etc.  It makes it even worse that she's the sole creative engine driving the show.

It was a good, but not exceptional, episode. Dunham is kind of one-note, but they used her wisely. . I get the same impression of her show, which I've seen about half an episode of.

It's the same cycle of overexposure that every 'new thing' goes through, except that a lot of men are enraged because she's fat and plain.

Agreed. I didn't enjoy self-impressed navel-gazing in the movie theatre 20 years ago when it was called Reality Bites, and I don't enjoy it now.

The star later deleted the post and apologised for the remark, writing, "I just made and deleted a not so great molestation joke. Sorry guys. I am really sleepy. Snl (Saturday Night Live) has a way bigger audience than our usual cozy Girls audience, so I was seeing a rash of very different kinds of Twitter rage."

She's saving the really boffo molestation jokes for her "hit" show.  Because her regular viewers will appreciate them, not like those SNL-watching troglodytes.

I've only seen the show a couple of times, but I think that the rage it inspires is hilarious.
