" They don't want to go into great detail about the ring, lest a few dozen people who lost a diamond engagement ring show up to fraudulently acquire some new bling. "

They don't want to go into great detail so we'll just take a pic of the ring and show it to you...

After a transatlantic flight I could do with 6 hours away from my kids.

Sounds like free baby sitting to me.

"The most kids get lost on Tejano Day," said Kasper.

I have to admit that made me chuckle.

I work as a volunteer at Rodeo Houston every year.  It is amazingly well run for an event that averages nearly 120K vistors daily for three weeks.

Who in their right mind would go shopping with a goat?

Sounds like the parents wanted free baby-sitting while they went off and had a good time.

That's unbelievable to a point that some people really need a good slap.

No one should EVER leave their cell phone unattended for that long.

On the down side, the kid's parents are rodeo fans.

Sure, they left/forgot cell phones, strollers, diamond rings and even children - but notice no guns were lost.

Texans know what matters most.

When did they start calling it that?

I lost my billfold last year at Rodeo Houston. It must have fallen out of my purse during the evening concert & I didn't realize it until I got home. I called the lost & found office the next day. Rather than me having to drive all the way back to Reliant Stadium (40 miles) & pay to park etc., they emailed me a form authorizing my friend who is a Rodeo volunteer to pick it up for me. The $20 cash was missing but my license & credit card was still there (which was all I cared about anyway).

Offically, it is still called Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, but they have started referring to it as Rodeo Houston in the past few of years.

It's easier to believe when you accept that 'Urban Cowboy' is actually a documentary about Houston.

Rodeo Houston is the rodeo division of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

A bunch of my old HS friends do the cookoff...one that I know of competes every year. The rest volunteer or go get full and plastered.

I sure do miss some things about Houston*....I've been outta town too long.

*Don't miss the traffic on the Katy

This is both good and bad, good that at least they are responsible enough not to misplace them but bad in that it implies that guns are more important to them than anything else, even their chidlren.

Meh, people take their kids to public places all the time and expect other people to watch them. Go to a bowling alley on any military post for example

They drop lost children off at the lost and found?

Selena Gomez was a real snooze fest yesterday.  I honestly don't know what I was expecting...  Even my daughter was bored out of her mind.

I can actually see losing false teeth. My first pair of plastic chops were hideously uncomfortable; I was forever popping them out and putting them tidily away. (My current set come out at night.) Even the most comfortable false teeth can take some getting used to. Reading cheaters are easy, but my "cataclysmically nearsighted" models havent left my face since I was eight.

Horribly, terribly, I can see forgetting a kid, too. And I mean in the "I'm so wrapped up in my own life that I see my children as a sort of accessory or decoration that I only choose to interact with at my convenience" sense. Not from firsthand experience, thank whatever Gods might be on hand to take my call right now, but from knowing people who kinda do and some of the situations their toddlers have wandered into. "Did you know your daughter is trying to pet the alligator?" "Oh, she's FINE."

That reminds me, I need to send another thank you card to my vasectomy doctor.

alas nice umbrella I held you
/I have a shiatty umbrella that I can't seem to lose that I'll take next time

That's changed some since they widened, now it's 290 that sucks to high heaven

290 sucked in the 70s...it has ALWAYS sucked.

I've mentioned this before, but I really think Houston dropped the ball on widening the Katy...They should have used the existing RR tracks for transit into Downtown.

That being said, if I could move back (and afford to do so) I'd love to live in Montrose. I have always loved the area.

Sure. That way Mom can go out and meet men unencumbered by the little bastards. Just remember to collect them before closing time.

A lot of families don't stick together at events.  Throw in friends and relatives and each group assuming the missing kid was with someone else.

They get the most lost kids on tejano day. Seriously?

`Lost kids` is a lot cheaper than `creche` or `daycare`

How much is six hours of daycare these days?

Back in the 70's it was mostly white kids on white pride day.

Six hours? It usually takes longer to sober up than that if you're doing it right.

Lame story bro

I saw Chicago at the Rodeo in Houston.  The sound system in the Astrodome at the time was the absolute worst most godawful sound system I have ever heard in my life.  At least my tickets were free.

./25 or 6 to 4 was still good enough to make it worth my while
//some music sounds just as good out of shiatty speakers.
