It's offensive to the English Language, good taste, and observable reality to refer to it as intellectual. It's bereft of intellectualism; it's ideological at its core.

Intellectual movement? Like Bono? Does Michele want the biddy?

If only she could state that in the form a of a Dr. Seuss rhyme, then I might take her seriously.

I'd say they're a rather sloppy smelly movement reminiscent of something I often produce after a long night of PBR and buffalo wings. There is little to no form and they are easily flushed from existence.

Conservatives are an intellectual movement in the same way that Atheists are a religious movement. The spend a lot of time talking and thinking about it, but always in negative and destructive terms.

"at its core is an intellectual movement" based "on the greatest ideas that have ever been conceived in the mind of man

Intellectual ideas like:
Man was created from dirt, woman from a rib.
Rabbits chew cud.
The stars are little lights in a dome over our heads really, really high.
The earth is 6000 years old.
Man may or may not have been to the moon.
Koalas can carry enough eucalyptus for a 7,000 mile journey to the Middle East, and another 7,000 miles back to Australia.
God impregnated a virgin with himself in order to prove to himself that man can be without the sin he created in man, and ultimately die in sacrifice to himself to himself so man would no longer suffer eternal damnation for that sin he created in the first place.

Ya know, I can loudly tell myself I am a billionaire all day long in the name of Almighty God and Baby Jeesus,
and it's like putting kittens in the oven and callin' em biscuits.

Now, purely for the sake of reference, here's a biscuit:

encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com

And here's another kinda biscuit:

encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com

Aaaaand this...well, it's nifty and all, but...

encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com

...no matter how vigorously or loudly you call upon the name of the Lord usin' that,
it just doesn't get anywhere near this:

encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com

And at the end of the day I still ain't a billionaire.

It does suggest in interesting empirical polling topic for Gallup, PPP, or the like. Ask a bunch of questions about how strongly people support the Tea Party, and then ask about how much reading people have done in the last month -- say, amount of time and pages, from books, website text (as opposed to pictures and video), dead-tree media, et cetera. Maybe even ask how many books they have around their house, and how many e-Books they have in their Nook/Kindle libraries.

My guess is there wouldn't be all that much correlation, in either direction.

What strikes me about her is that stare. She has the expression of one who constantly gazes at some kind of Lovecraftian horror.
