It's not easy to out-Luongo Luongo

Not sure if it is a Lack of talent or Lack of conviction.

There's really no excuse for that goal.  He had a clear view.  The only thing I can think of is that he was thinking that the guy was going to dump and he was cheating to stop it behind the net...even so, he had a clear view.

Wow. When I read the headline I did a double-take. I was all, "But Luongo no longer plays there!"

I figured it was a knuckle-puck or took a short hop on him at the last second. Nope, straight shot, stayed off the ice.

That's ok. Louongo got smoked in Florida by the Bruins on Sunday evening.
Corey Schneider hasn't exactly been lights for NJ this year either.

Louongo just a pawn in game of life.

He was lights out after that ugly goal... Usually one goal is all it takes to beat the Canucks these days...

At least he had a sense of humour about it.

Up until getting hammered by Detroit the other night, his GAA was under 2. It's not really his fault that he typically gets a bare minimum of goal support.

There must be some sort of micro black hole anomaly in the Roger's Arena nets that increases the suction at the goal line.

I call it the Louongo effect.

//I scored a goal from the other side of the ice during a tourney once.
///Even had video of it.

Not that it's excusable, but it looked like it was getting strange lift - it skips up, then bounces after the blue line a few inches off the ice toward the goal - then knuckle-floats upwards , maybe only an inch or so (best view is the slow-motion replay at ~34-38 seconds).  Either way, he wasn't stopping it.  He wasn't ready to get in front of it.

That, Young Goalers, is a prime example of how poor position and always diving into the butterfly can backfire.

And as an extra bonus it was Brian McGrattan who shot it.  Giving up a goal like that to someone who only scores maybe 3-4 times a year anyway just twists the 'ooops' knife that much more.

/happy for Gratts though.  It's always great when any tough guy lights the lamp.

My little goalie let in almost the exact same goal this weekend. He dove for a slow-moving shot from the neutral zone and it dribbled right past him. Then he gloved down a high wrister a minute later.

Like the Twitter from Lack, shows some self-deprication.

I've seen teams Canuck before but they are the Canuckiest bunch of Canucks who ever Canucked.

Yeah, people leave out the little part about how many saves a goalie makes, Shots on Goal is kind of an overlooked statisic, so is GAA. Also, if he's making the stops, the rest of the team has to eventually score. It's not like it's the goalie against all 5 of the other guys.

That was a truly awful game.

Calgary is a bad team and Vancouver has become a very bad team.

The look on Kesler's face after the game was over and he skated over to give Lack a pat on the back for the win was priceless.

He looked like he'd rather be anywhere else on earth.

But even I can give kudos to Lack for bouncing back after such a horrific goal. He stopped everything else.

Well, on the plus side for the Vancouver players, they won't have to play any unpaid games this year!

"Not News" because it happened two days ago?

Every goalie lets in goal like this in their career. It didn't break him, he was solid afterwards and won the game.

Its a weird spot for Canucks fans. I want them to tank to get a better pick, but I don't want them to lose to Calgary.

And then the Canucks gave up 7 in the 3rd tonight hosting the Isles after leading 3-0 to start the period. And I thought the Coyotes were pathetic for giving up 2 goal leads in the 3rd period twice in a week.

Okay, now tonight's game was news.

Gillis is likely working on another letter to the fans right now. Hope he has more to offer than "We got a 6'4" centre, so at least we have that going for us"
