Does he advocate moving to a foreign country to avoid paying your fair share of taxes? You know...  like he did?

Another artiste explaining the solutions to all the world's problems.  Who the fark gives these blowholes a seat at these forums?  The moment I see one of these attention whores involved, I dismiss the whole group as a bunch of idiots.  You have some mope, with no qualifications there, because, "they help draw attention to the problem".  The type of people who require someone like Bono, to "draw their attention" to the fact that "world hunger is bad", are the ones who really can't provide any help, because they're too farking stupid.  "Wow, I never realized that world hunger was bad until Bono spoke about it! (yawn) I think I'll take a nap."

Yup, he's a lying tax cheat who has learned how to doublespeak well enough to convince himself that he isn't a piece of tax dodging shiat.

But please give your hard earned money to whatever charity I ask you to!

Neo Socialists don't have to follow the same rules they preach to others. See Al Gore, Tim Geithner or the myriad of tax cheats in the Democrat Party.

Forbidden Doughnut: rickythepenguin: netcentric: Wasn't U2 the band that had thier money in offshore carribean secret accounts so the EU couldn't tax them ??

the story i recall is just a few years ago they moved quote / unquote "U2 Inc." (whatever corporate entity formed to represent the band) from Ireland to I think the Netherlands;  I'm fuzzy on the details but it was either the foreign country gave far more favorable tax treatment or Ireland was poised to enact more taxes on corporations, some shiat like that.

Irish politicians were pretty upset as, at the time, Ireland was in a pretty dire financial situation and it iddn't play well; not a good look when the home sons abandon the country and take money out of the coffers.

ehhh.  i guess i can't balme them for making a sound business decision but yeah, they took a measure of shiat for that.

If KISS did something like this to avoid taxes, I wouldn't have a problem with it. AFAIK, Gene Simmons has been very upfront about acquiring money...( and he doesn't lecture me about how I spend mine)

/ KISS, more honest that U2...

This.  U2 is the Al Gore, of musicians.

If they really want to help Spain... they can move thier money into Spanish banks.   Talk all the world celebrities into banking in Spain and donating any 'extra' millions in cash directly to Spains treasury to use as needed.

Because charity is good.  People need help.    Like Africa.

Wait... this isn't charity.   He is talking about just buying Spanish goods.     But if everybody switches from German and Italian goods to Spanish then doesn't that mean Germany and Italy will then have a problem...

Hey...I don't think Bono has thought this through very well.
