The first thing I thought of was the Tommy Boy clip.

The second was the 1970 Dodge Super Bee in Plum Crazy Purple.

It's a "minor accident", that involved hitting a tree hard enough to dislodge a bee hive.

440 cubic inches of go forward rapidly.

Unfortunately, Chargers had a terrible braking system.  No brakes at all, if they got hot.  I also broke a motor mount on a hole shot.

Still, a thrilling feeling coming up the gears to about 120 or 140.  God-almighty fast car.

You mean Coronets, not Chargers.  And really what vehicle with 4 drums stopped quickly back then?

/yes, they were all 'B' bodies, but the Coronets & Roadrunners were a good foot longer.

The news guy last night was hundreds of yards away, and he had this sheepish look on his face that said "yeah, we know we're far away so you can barely make out one fire truck, but fark you, bees, man!"

I never remember to refer to them as "Coronets", but you're right.  I had a '70 Charger, (in '78), and I loved it, except for the brakes.

I drove a rental Charger 4 door, v-6, black paint recently.  It was pretty darn nice.  Pretty peppy also with only the v-6.

superbird > superbee

Quick trivia note, the tails on the superbird/charger daytona were way the hell up there not for aerodynamic reasons, they only had to be about 6 inches to a foot tall to get into clean air.

This was back when they still had to homologate them, bodies included, and if the wing was only up a foot, you couldn't open the trunk.

"the 2000 block of Los Amigos Street in La Canada Flintridge."

I don't think we can make fun of the Aussies for their funny place names anymore.
