Surprisingly, just about what you would expect someone marrying a dog to look like.

Infernalist: It's farking retarded.  You can't marry something that can't consent.

People ascribe all sorts of "people only" things to their damn pets; consent is just another.

/ no, your dog cannot feel love
// it will eat you given the opportunity

People eat dogs.

By your logic that means people can't feel love.

/make of that what you will.

No, that would be if I said the dogs can't feel love because they would eat another species. As I said no such thing, you fail basic logic.

The latest scientific understanding is that dogs do indeed have emotions and an intelligence level roughly equivalent to around 2 year old human child. I guess you think human children don't feel love, huh?

The thing is, at this point it's pretty obvious that consciousness is not a binary thing - where a creature either has it or doesn't. It's likely a continuum of degrees. But it's much more convenient for us to think of it as binary in order to not have to feel guilt over our treatment of other species. By denying the ability of another creature to feel emotions we then insulate ourselves from feeling guilty when we treat them as objects and avoid uncomfortable questions about our relationship with them, species to species. Back in the days of slavery people used to make similar arguments about enslaved races for the same reasons.

But denial doesn't actually change the reality. That's the thing about the truth revealed by scientific inquiry - it's still true when we stubbornly choose to deny it. Dogs feel love, and other emotions as well. Deal with it.

People that anthropomorphize animals and consider them equal to humans are mentally unhinged.

Annnd...right on cue! Figured someone would pop in with the actual science. I just thought I'd take first snarky fark crack.

I particularly enjoyed the way he tried to use "your dog will eat you" as a back up argument for his "dogs can't feel love" and then back-peddled like crazy when he got called on it. Because you know, English has this funny thing called "context" where it is reasonable for someone to relate two otherwise irrelevant facts if they are presented in a certain way within the argument.

Like, for instance, the way we present slashies on fark.

/unless of course, he fails English.
//seems unpossible though.

How timely.  This is in no way being brought up due to recent events.

And also......... I feel I should add that this woman obviously has some major psychological deficits. Because man that 'aint right. As I mentioned in my last post, dogs have roughly the emotions and intelligence level that a human 2 year old child does, so logically marrying one ought to be as messed up as marrying a 2 year old even if you discard the inter-species aspect as mere social taboo. So any way you look at it, it's messed up, really.

An extremely dedicated dog has continued to show its loyalty, keeping watch on its owner's grave six years after he passed away.

Capitan, a German shepherd, reportedly ran away from home after its owner, Miguel Guzman, died in 2006. A week later, the Guzman family found the dog sitting by his grave in central Argentina.

I was afraid that she would have to deal with her "husband" dying in only a few years, but then I read

Amanda Rodgers

She should have no problem extending his lifespan.
