AverageAmericanGuy: This guy wasn't rescued in time to prevent injuries that are still haunting him 6 months after the incident.

If we had universal coverage and a health system that wasn't designed to bankrupt sick people, this guy wouldn't need to sue his rescuers. He'd already have the medical help he needed and wouldn't be forced to look for scapegoats to pay for his bills.

But if he'd have had escape goats, he wouldn't have been trapped in the first place.

Solstafir: Two minutes of internet research indicates to me that, according to legal precedent, the defendants in this case "do not have a general duty to rescue the public within the scope of their employment." They cannot be sued for failing to rescue somebody, much less for their punctuality in successfully rescuing somebody. It took me two minutes with Google to learn enough about 'lawyerin' to throw this asshole's lawsuit out the window.

I should have stayed in college...

If his lawyers had had the information you found earlier, they would not have filed that suit. Expect to be sued by them shortly...

Ortiz said he has suffered a total of $500,000 in damages.

No way his car is worth that much.

Perhaps he doesn't have the proper carrybag for escape goats.

What type of carry bag would be appropriate for escape goats? Some sort of fast action tote, perhaps?

I've seen those on late-night TV. The Scottish family up the street bought several for their flock. They have a cute nickname for when they stuff the animals into the bags, but I forget what it is right now.

Resident Muslim: log_jammin: yup. no way to tell the road was washed out.

none at all...

I'm a bit torn on this case...
But I just wanted to ask if you were referring to the 1st car, 2nd car or 3rd car?

so you're saying that since three cars wrecked that the road that the road wasn't closed or marked properly and that the drivers helplessly drive over the edge like lemmings one at a time?

Fizpez: Never, ever sue poor people - the city has the money so you sue the city. He will sue the car manufacturer next because "Dont drive across washed out roads!" wasnt stenciled across the steering wheel.

People are morans like that.  I once had a guy demand we replace his month-old laptop for free because he cracked the screen.

He cracked the screen by grabbing it between thumb and fingers with thumb smack in the middle of the panel.

He picked the laptop up this way because the instructions didn't say specifically not to handle it by the screen.

/sigh, people

If only there were some other way this guy could have his medical bills paid for, other than having to sue his rescuers...

Incarceration?

Put his ass back in the river.

Oh, and put his attorneys next to him. Head down, and use extra cement.

Leave him on the bank.
