I remember, back in the early '80s, when SNL was decent.  They were funny because they were outrageous for the day.  It was biting humor, saying what everyone was thinking and no one was saying.  Now, we have the Internet.  Now, someone somewhere is saying it, with a gazillion page views.  Now, they'd have to do the goddamn Aristocrats to be outrageous, and that would only gross people out.

Let. It. Go. Because man, it's gone.

What is it with Hollywood's maniacal obsession with forcing this fat hag down its rapidly-declining viewers' throats? It's almost as if they are trying to flush people onto the Internet to look at hot chicks.

Hy, everyone, look at this blubbery woman, because PC body image blah blah. Bleech!

Also, due to the internets, all the jokes they do feel old. "Oh, you're dong a sketch where Miley sticks her tongue out? Dude, that joke is so 4 1/2 days ago!"

The Nielsens?  We're doing everything we can to make that happen.

It was actually the only episode I've seen in ages that I thought was a little humorous.

These days, I really only watch for the former pornstars.

I watched out of curiosity and found myself fairly amused. The "Singing in the car interrupted by the GPS" sketch had a WTF? ending. And the Garden of Eden one made me chuckle a couple times. I liked how they poked fun at her looks with the snake's apple line. And the Scandal bit was funny. And I haven't ever watched Scandal.

Jon Hamm's appearance was kinda useless, though. The hell?

Worse than last week's dirge with Jim Parsons?

The ratings were probably down because who the hell is this woman?

Not a Lena Dunham fan at all, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and give some blame to the fact that it was the switchover to daylight savings time and people not wanting to stay up as late as they might because they're losing an hour of farking sleep.

You know what really grinds my gears? I used to think Lena Dunham sucks....but her job as host on SNL has changed me....I now know that she sucks. And stop stinking up my HBO subscription with "Girls". HBO decided to end "Deadwood" and then ends up giving us a show about vapid airhead hipster biatches who live in New York? No thanks. I would cancel your channel if "Game of Thrones" was not starting up again. And that's what really grinds my gears.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED at this turn of events!

2014-03-09 08:56:58 PM
Saw the cold-open with Liam Neeson and thought 'Yeah, this could be alright'

And when they announced is was that waste of skin Dunham I couldn't find the remote fast enough.

Saw her walking down the stairs at the intro and even that tiny bit is viewed as a wasted 1.5 seconds out of my life.

...Lena Dunham sucks....

Maybe she does, maybe she doesn't. I've never met her to find out.

SNL's whole problem is they get a good idea, and beat it into the ground.

As an example, the skit with the singing being interrupted by the GPS. It was a five minute sketch, for a thirty second joke. One verse and then the pay off would have made it funny.

/InterruptingQuirk ~ old enough to know better, young enough to get modern humor

Lena Dunham is the media's darling, "the voice of her generation". Unfortunately, nobody wants to hear what her generation of airheads has to say. Even with her going nude her show can't get much more than 800k viewers.

It's been that way since the original cast left.

One of the Pythons once said "if you want to see what happens when you try to write comedy in drugs, watch SNL."

Lena Dunham is terrible and unattractive.  I don't get why she's a "celebrity"

AeAe: Lena Dunham is terrible and unattractive.  I don't get why she's a "celebrity"

Because she writes characters that people who have never lived normal, non-celebrity, non-wealthy lives think are what "normal people" are like, even though most normal people don't act anything like the characters she writes because they're ridiculous, vapid, self-absorbed, senseless, clueless New York hipster youth who don't understand the value of a dollar or our valuable time.

Can we stop acting like this chick represents my generation, she only represents rich kid hipster douches from places like SF and NYC.

Plenty of women can be funny. She's not among them.

Just like Monica Lewinsky, Sarah Ferguson & Tracy Turnblad, she's supposed to give hope to fat nerdy girls. She's even dating a rock star (that guy from fun.), so she must be amazing!

Make it stop.

I can't stand Girls, but the level of ball-squeezing rage people on the internet have for her or any celebrity is just mystifying. What is wrong with you?

In its first two seasons, yes.

/It all went downhill with Michael McDonald and his retarded "Stuart" character. Every week they would beat that dead horse.

A show that KNEW how to do nudity:

"Magic City" on Starz.  (R.I.P.....only lasted two seasons.)

Since the show takes place around 1960, all of the women were natural....and gorgeous.

/Heard they had a tough time with casting in Miami since many of the women who came in had implants.

Every single line of dialogue is blatantly read off a cue card.  It's really distracting. Learn your lines, its not like you're too busy writing funny sketches during the week to rehearse.
