freetomato: demaL-demaL-yeH: freetomato: WTFDYW: Death Whisper: At least she's willing to stand up to Putin, Obama's a castrated weasel who would rather appease him.

She only 'stands' up to Putin because she's not in charge. Put her in charge and she'd STFU and go cook a meal. It's easy to be a bad ass when you aren't the one in charge.

It's also easy to be a bad ass when you are not willing to enlist in the military, but are willing to toss other peoples kids into a meat grinder.

One of her boys is Army.
/She's still an idiot.

Army Reserve, served in Iraq. Call me cynical, but if we had (God forbid) a President Palin (I threw up in my mouth a little just typing that) I doubt he would see combat, not that I wish that on anyone.

I actually saw a "Sarah for President!" bumper sticker the other day. About drove off the road laughing.

I believe he's in the IRR, after his active-duty time was mysteriously shortened.

Source?

They're the 4th largest weapons exporter in the world.  All of our allies either make their own or buy ours.  Where do you think all that weaponry is being sold?

So do you have a source that the Taliban is armed with Ukrainian weapons or not?

With all of the noise on the internet about Ukraine lately it's a bit tough.  Easy to find their weapons in both sides of Syria, Lybia etc, tougher with Afghanistan.  Historical failed attempts to sell cruise missiles to Iran.

But you're probably right, they're an "ally".

zzzzt: PsiChick:  Globally: Peace through strength in large part was what ended the cold war.  In your home town:  A big guy walks through a bad neighborhood and isn't bothered.  A smaller weaker looking guy walking through that same neighborhood has a more likely chance of being harmed.  Peace through strength has always worked.  The bad guys only attack those they believe can be defeated.

gfid:
I could go on until my fingers are sore about evidence that Obama is an idiot, but it would all be completely circumstantial.  He would never have even been in the position to be elected to such a high office unless he was extremely intelligent.  My comment was simply that the same logic applies to Palin and that you and others like you mindlessly parrot what you have heard repeated by biased sources and are only non-thinking sheep.

At no point did she say we should nuke them.  Her only comment about that was "Mr. President, the only thing that stops a bad guy with a nuke is a good guy with a nuke."  If you choose to take that as her endorsement to start a nuclear war, then I offer that as yet more proof that you are only a sheep.  And an idiot...

Steve:
"Happy to be here" ended after the 3rd paragraph which was maybe 10% of the speech.  After that she talked about the reelection of Obama and how that effected Republicans.  Then she went into how the idea of "free" doesn't exist as a lead in to talking about Obamacare .  She then promoted some other politicians and progress they've made.  She then spent a lot of time on the problems Obama and the left have caused.  That gets me half way through and I won't bore you with the rest.

If you spent more than 30 seconds reading it, you'd see that It is fairly well put together, but was also directed towards a crowd that is already in her corner.  This is probably why you see it as weird-crazy-ditzy.  My guess is that you can't fathom the idea that someone who doesn't believe in what you believe is anything other than an idiot.

Baa ...

OOohhh she's already slept with you, hasn't she?

Conservatives are sneaky that way - they give you big tent, then you spend the rest of your existence rationalizing why it was okay, you'll be okay, everything will be okay..

don't suppose i need to quote the other guy's post - that speech was a tripe right-meme disaster with zero substance.

Doesn't matter if it's a male or a female, it was empty of ideas, empty of purpose, and heavy on emotional wish-fufillment.

The type of thing you'd defend.. if you were personally involved in seeing the answer you already want to be right. That's not science, nor wise policy.

(in otherwords ZZZzzzzt, it's easy when you're the minority party to say and believe reckless things to rile people - you hope - harmlessly into your arms. The big problem is, they don't stop when they get power. This speech is prima facie evidence of that -- because no one who ever expected to ever EVER be near the big red button would talk like that, not even Palin. It's a symptom of persecution, that she thinks so little of her ever having control that she need not be a responsible politician. this goes for the rest of GOTP, too)

vygramul: Mentat: Techhell: They think that America can destroy Russia before Russia can launch their own nukes back. They also honestly don't care if Europe gets nuked since there is next to nothing that they get from Europe (that they know of) so there is no personal loss for them.

That's kind of the crux of the entire situation.  Conservatives seem to think that if Russia feared us, they wouldn't do these things.  The truth is, Russia is doing these things because they fear us.  In the last 20 years, their Eastern European buffer zone has almost disappeared.  Riga and Kiev are 1.5 hours flight from Moscow.  We are in military terms right on their door step.  Even without a missile shield, our first strike advantage is daunting and Russia knows it.  In expanding NATO and the EU so quickly, we've pushed Russia's backs against the wall.  Not that I oppose NATO expansion, but this is one of the consequences.

Must be nice to just give Russia all those other people. Because Russia's buffer zone matters because they were invaded a couple of times. But Ukraine's buffer zone needs are irrelevant - they were only occupied for a few centuries. That's nothing like having some people pay you a visit for a grand total of a decade.

Understanding is not the same as condoning.  You have to understand your opponent if you want to defeat him.  The Russians get very nervous when Western armies get too close to Moscow which is why they're making these moves.

Sobriquet - She talks about Obama reducing our military might and explains why this is a bad thing because a bad guy with nukes will only be stopped by a good guy with nukes.  I think most people will agree that a weaker US military will embolden the bad guys to do things they ordinarily would never consider.  None of this has anything to do with advocating war and none of it is evidence of some psychological persecution issues that you are amazingly capable of diagnosing.

Ciberido - No matter how well deserved, I shouldn't have lowered myself to that level.  It only makes the forums worse.  Sometimes it's hard to jump into a pig pen without getting dirty.

Ukraine's not in for reasons that have nothing to do with any gentleman's agreement. The Maidan wasn't going to change that without making substantial changes to make Ukraine a better country. Not only that, but this isn't the first pro-Ukrainian government since the fall. There's nothing special about this one.

And being in NATO doesn't mean you get NATO bases in your country, so the armies still don't end up any closer anyway. Heck, there are fewer NATO troops in Europe now than 20 years ago.

So, Palin paraphrases the NRA, the media is offended, and Palin looks more like Ronnie Ray-Gun.

What's hilarious is that she's entirely correct in what she actually said, but the liberals would rather die than admit it. Literally rather die, as their "benevolent" unchallenged rule over Detroit has demonstrated. I remember a recent FARK headline, "Fishes wonder why their bicycles aren't protecting them," about women living in "gun-free" neighborhoods complaining about blatant daylight purse-snatchings, including one that resulted in the shooting death of one woman's boyfriend when he tried to chase down the snatchers who stole her purse. Too bad not a single person quoted in the article had enough sense to realize that, if you take all the guns away from the good guys, any bad guy who gets a gun becomes unstoppable.

/hold more rallies, lose more purses, whatever goats your float
//eventually the police will catch the criminals

If there wasn't at least one good guy with nukes watching over the whole thing, you'd better believe a nuclear war would be started, if just the threat alone wasn't enough for the bad guys to be appeased with whatever they want.

A single nuclear strike, especially one that isn't responded to in kind, isn't going to "destroy the planet." Japan's already taken two nukes to the face, and their country remains undestroyed, let alone the planet.

What you should worry about is the lack of anyone willing to be a good guy with a nuke. We've already shown Putin we won't take any action to stop the use of chemical weapons in Syria... maybe we would ignore just one little nuclear strike on Kiev as well. Not our country, not our NATO, not our problem, right? And not only would Ukraine surrender, but probably Georgia, maybe even all the old Soviet satellite states, once they see that the US is going to keep playing the "we didn't see that" game.

/and all because nukes are so scary-bad that nobody wanted to be the nuclear-powered Globocop

Number one, the US was the only one with nuclear weapons at the time. Number two, that was Hiroshima. Nuclear weapons are measured in numbers ofs "Hiroshimas" meaning everyone's nukes are a lot more powerful than they were when we awoke Godzilla.
