what makes it interesting is that the Theremin is played without being touched!

How do those great metal tubes fly through the sky? What is this bright leaping thing... AAAGGGGRRRRR FIRE BAD!

Left hand is volume.  Right hand is pitch.  You can also buy "left handed" theremins with the antennas reversed.

Subby sounds young...

See, A&E used to have these things called drama, including a lot of british shows. instead of Storing Duck Shipping wars.

Sounds like a needle drop from some cheesy 1950's scifi film.  At least it wasn't some of Joseph Gershenson's audio assault music.

Give me 'Barney Miller' or 'Wild Wild World of Animals' any day.

And good enough for these guys, too.

Not my favorite television theme by a long shot but she is an excellent theramin player.  It's actually a rather difficult instrument and when it is played poorly it is really hell to sit through.

How about the Mighty Mouse theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsPa8QgGGkc

I love the theramin and all and she's wickedly talented and the song is beautiful, but Tank from CowBoy BeBop is the best TV Theme song of all time. ALL TIME!

This was my first thought, as well.

Ghastly: I love the theramin and all and she's wickedly talented and the song is beautiful, but Tank from CowBoy BeBop is the best TV Theme song of all time. ALL TIME!

But then I realized that this was the correct answer.

Subby's contention is utter bollocks.

The missus and I have been watching this show on Monday evenings for years. We find the pleasant village settings of rural England, where dependably eccentric, middle-aged white people kill each other in numerous inventive, gory and varied ways, usually with a bunch of sordid affairs, bitter class resentments and the occasional pervy, thieving aristocrat served as sub-plots, to be relaxing.

The per capita crime rate is unbelievable, however. It's like Medellin with napkin rings and pints of real ale.

Yep, came in to say this. There's a lot of great ones in this thread (Cowboy Bebop, Garry Shandling, Perfect Strangers, etc.), but yeah, Greatest American Hero had the best theme song of all time.

The 80's in general might have had cheesy shows, but they had GREAT theme songs.
Dukes of Hazard
Night Court
A-Team
Sanford and Son
Fall Guy
Good Times
The Jeffersons
Knight Rider
Diff'rent Strokes

And etc.... I think the 80's might not have been the high water mark of TV shows, but it was the high water mark of TV show theme songs.

And I'd be remiss without including this great one from the 70's
The Original Battlestar Galactica

I got a kick out of how the original Battlestar Galactica theme song was the Anthem for the 12 Colonies in the remake.
