Get your volleyball team into the Olympics and you'll gladly get one.

Any of this on non-streaming TV?

NBC Sports is airing it this year, on the actual days of competition, after getting yelled at by the IPC (Paralympic IOC equivalent) due to the week-and-a-half-delayed couple hours they gave to London's. They damn near got their broadcast rights pulled, because it doesn't matter how much money a network puts up if nobody gets to see the show.

The interesting thing is that a number of the athletes were also in the Olympics, but then they washed their faces with the water, or had a run-in with the local wildlife living in the hotel, or fell down an open elevator shaft...

On top of Gosling's reply, even if you don't have cable/satellite; you can watch just about everything online via TeamUSA.org. They're keeping archives, too.

Paralymics, not real Olympics.

It actually appears that there are six different visually impaired biathlon events.
Here's the schedule:

My friend's sister does sled hockey...it's not a game for the faint-hearted.

Damn, the Russians killed Italy 7-0.

USA (6 pts) v Russia (4 pts) Tuesday at 9:30am ET.

USA wins= USA takes the group, RUS 2nd unless Korea beats Italy in regulation.
RUS wins- RUS wins the group, USA 2nd regardless of KOR-ITA result

What the? HOW?

2014-03-10 12:44:30 AM
Having googled my own question, wiki produced this:
Visually impaired athletes use a rifle that use sound to indicate to the athlete how accurate their aim is, and shoots a laser beam at the target.[1]

You might have been watching Sunday's action. Monday's events begin at 1:30am ET with curling and 2am ET with Women's Super G

2014-03-10 02:14:34 AM
Women's Super G for visually impaired: the last skier was on her way to winning it but missed a gate right by the lake to get DQed. The favorite was right before her and she slipped and fell but didn't miss a gate on her way to last place

Yeah, I was. Missed that part; I was busy with a blog writeup. (No Paralympics updates from me. The post in question concerns this one Kickstarter that ended about a week and a half ago in the creator taking the books he'd had made out back and setting them on fire.)

Well, I'm watching for as long as I can hold out. Super G standing has started with 3 DNFs

Slushy McFlatbottom has no shame.

God, it's Day 3 and we haven't had an NBC human-interest story yet, at least none that I've seen. They're just shutting up and airing events, LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN DOING THE WHOLE TIME.

WHY DO YOU NOT AIR THEM LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME, THEN MAYBE YOU WOULDN'T GET MOCKED SO MUCH

I saw 1 human interest story in their nightly recap show. But ultimately, they don't really care all that much about this.

2014-03-10 02:29:32 AM
And apparently, the world feed folks don't care either since they're identifying the wrong person as leading.

2014-03-10 02:33:01 AM
Slushy McFlatbottom is an evil bastard!

Or maybe it's the organizers for making everyone ski the men's course instead of the slower, gentler women's course.

2014-03-10 02:34:08 AM
God, it just does not want to be winter anymore out there. Like, at all.

2014-03-10 02:37:48 AM
The worst thing about watching this: it makes me look farking pathetic for being able bodied and yet being completely unable to do any of this.

The American who just went down the hill with only a right leg and right arm takes the farking lead!

2014-03-10 02:43:34 AM
I know, right? Even the tiny little bunny hills we have here would wipe the floor with me, never mind this.

2014-03-10 02:46:54 AM
Yeah. That's about what I'd look like.

2014-03-10 02:49:41 AM
I'm almost expecting some sort of BS to give Russia a medal at the expense of the American, seeing how they still have the Russian who missed a gate listed 3rd.

And another sit-skier crashes

2014-03-10 03:04:29 AM
This is the thing about Paralympic crashes: not only are they disabled in the first place, not only do they have less ability to pull themselves out of a nasty wreck... but there's also the matter of those extra tools on them. A ski crash is bad enough. Crashing while strapped into a big luggy monoski? Yikes.

2014-03-10 03:07:21 AM
Delayed to clean up the carnage, which means I'm heading to bed.

Did you see Tyler Walker get taken away in the helicopter? That was a vicious crash but the NY Times is reporting he is stable but had a massive concussion.

Yes, I saw it and it made me sick to my stomach.
