Funny.  Now don't pull it down and/or apologize.

The Sox were farking their own fans here.   Everyone know the Marlins are in the toilet (not unusual) so many, many of the fans attending those spring training games would have been Sox fans.   There are rules about split squad games and the Sox apparently didn't live up to their obligations.

It's not a big deal, but it does reinforce the idea that the Red Sox (and those that carry water for them, certain networks based in New England) are douchebags.

OK, the first time I heard this story I thought it was the Rays not the Marlins, my brain sometimes does that for some reason. Anyway yeah, Marlins complaining? It's hard to disagree with John Henry here.

dameron:  There are rules about split squad games and the Sox apparently didn't live up to their obligations.

Huh, so there are.  I was ready to bash the Marlins, but apparently MLB does have rules about this.  Fans were paying money expecting to see the players MLB promised, and the Sox broke that promise.  So, while this is stupid, I agree with the Marlins.

"A minimum of four players who are regulars on the previous year's major league team or who were platooned on the previous year's major league team on a regular basis, or who have a reasonable chance to be regulars on the major league club's squad during the upcoming season. Each of those regulars, excluding pitchers, must play a minimum of three complete innings."

After destroying the Montreal Expos, Loria shouldn't have been allowed to own a fantasy team.

farker shouldn't be allowed to own a copy of RBI Baseball let alone an actual T-ball team, nevermind a pro one.

Gregg Popovich must not be aware of this rule.

F*ck the Yankees?
I've never met a Red Sox fan who has thought of anything beyond that.

The real outrage will come when the Marlins trade Rafael Furcal, Jose Fernandez, and the HR statue thingy to the A's for their organist.

That was a great line. Just a fine point - John Henry is not the GM of the Red Sox - he's the owner.  The GM apologized. The owner (John Henry) followed-up.

And the Marlins were soaking those Sox fans with "super premium" ticket prices.

John Henry's tweet is a thing of beauty. Loria has lined his pockets with revenue sharing money, so no love lost there.

This./Ce. And no, I just can't get into the Nationals instead.

The one Expos game I went to in Montreal, even with only 9,000 fans there I swear I never saw so many hot women at one baseball game. I can only surmise there must have been an unbelievable groupie scene in Montreal for NL East players back in the day.

Man, do I hope Montreal gets a team again.

Speaking as a Marlins fan,  wake me up when we get a new owner.    Until then,  not a dollar from me.

The rare situation where everyone's right? The Marlins were right to complain about the Red Sox' scrimmageything lineup, and the Red Sox' owner was right to complain about the Marlins' regular lineup.

Everybody wins!

2014-03-09 10:13:13 AM
and how well did the marlins do against the scrub lineup?  0 runs, 2 hits

i think they are just mad that they suck so bad they can't do anything against even a minor league caliber team

i guess the only way they expect to entertain their fans is relying on how well the opposing team performs against them

The conclusion you came to here is pretty funny. It reinforces the idea that there's a lot of hate for the success the Red Sox have had in recent years.

I can live with it. There was a time when the only sports team from Boston that mattered were the Celtics, and sometimes the Bruins. Even when Clemens was around the Sox weren't the team to hate or care about. Now The Sox, the owners, the NESN station, anyone who supports them including the fans are douchebags. The hate goes with the territory.
