How many wishes did this kid get?

2014-03-08 08:36:23 PM
A big PR stunt? The whole thing orchestrated, including this charming way to make it up to the kid?
The snub was real but the studio demanded he do this to not have negative publicity ahead of the movie release?
Or maybe Garfield is telling the truth and this was a genuine way to try and make it up to the kid?

The thing is...... there's just no way to know. You know the old saying, if it's in Hollywood and it seems unscripted it probably just has a really good script. But these are also human beings who do screw up or do awesome things from time to time.

All we really know..... is that Jamie Foxx is movie poison. So I'll wait for video if I bother watching it.

Did anyone doubt this?  I mean you have two options.

Producers are dicks and were too busy doing pizza jokes to deal with a sick child in their Hollywood wank fest...or

Andrew Garfield turned down an opportunity for free press for his upcoming movie and wanted to look like a complete asshole to everyone by turning down a sick child.

Also, for shiats and giggles.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-KOY6rCNcs

We've heard that Garfield is blaming Oscars producers for devastating the 5-year-old Batkid, who was super excited about his surprise Academy Awards appearance with the Spider-Man star. Apparently the clip was axed at the last minute because "the piece didn't fit with the tone of the show".

You know how much I hated the Oscars before today? Quadruple it.

I wish he hadn't gotten the spidey gig
One, he's a limey and spidey's American
Two, I find him kinda odd looking and doesn't look like any of the Peter Parkers I've seen
Granted it's been like 20 years since I really bought any of the comics but I just don't see parker with such a triangle shaped head

Most definitely.  What the fark did the kid ever do but eat up his 15 minutes of fame before checking out before his time?  You don't want to hear about him, yet you took the time to display your ignorance.

Y'know... Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man IS owned by Marvel/Disney, while Batkid is based off of Batman, owned by DC/Time Warner.

Now, is it POSSIBLE that Disney pulled some strings to screw over a cancer survivor because of his association with a rival comic book company?

I'm not saying they did. I'm just asking questions. >.>

Actually, Sony owns the rights to the Spider-Man movies. Disney can't even put Spider-Man in Disney World because Universal owns the theme parks rights in Florida instead of them. It's a mess with the rights now.

Do you have any idea how bad this kid screwed up traffic in The City while he was out playing around and I was trying to find parking?  If there's two things I hate, they are children and cancer.  And I'm glad that I have cancer and not children.

How about a story on why they chose Spiderman to hang out with Batkid instead of Batman. I'm assuming the kid is into the Bale version and Bale has done stuff like this before.

Because there isn't a new Batman movie coming out this summer but there is a new Spiderman movie coming out this summer. I thought that was obvious.

I figure it's far more likely that the actor had a hissy fit than the oscar producers would axe the segment and risk the PR meltdown.
I don't watch the awards show cuz it's in prime videogame time, but they seem pretty savvy re: their image.

Which is kind of what Page Six is known for (being part of the New York Post should be the first clue). "Hey, it's not libel, that's what our Anonymous Source™, that is a real and independent person and totes not our meandering imagination hungry for sensationalist click bait, told us. And we don't have to reveal the source, that is a real and independent person and totes not our meandering imagination hungry for sensationalist click bait, because we're journalists!"

Considering that it's not just Garfield's lawyers but also the AMPAS itself that is saying that it was their choice and not his, I'm thinking it's probably safe to put away the Conspiracy Hats on this one.

Check out the whole movie on Youtube ("3 Dev Adam"), he also has some weird as hell thing at the end where he keeps coming back to life 2 seconds after being killed, over and over. And he's rapey, jumps out of outhouses and stabs mobsters, etc.

Riddle me this, Batkid...

If 10,400 children a year nationwide are diagnosed with cancer, and 1,500 of them will actually die from it...
How large will your therapy bill be when you grow up enough to realize people spent over $105,000 on only you to make themselves feel better for pretending to care about childhood cancer so you got to play dress up for just one day?

He was born in America and is at least half American. Though I think turnabout is fair play and we should pressure England for an American James Bond and an American Doctor Who.
