(KATU)   After losing 43-8 in the Super Bowl, the Broncos can't decide whether their offense or defense is in worse shape. So they make the obvious choice and release an 8-time pro-bowler to free up salary cap space   (katu.com) divider line 12

1) 12 time, not 8 time.

2) Less than 65% of 12 time Pro Bowlers become 13 time Pro Bowlers.  0% of 12 time Pro Bowl DBs become 13 time Pro Bowl DBs.

This was a smart move.

You might want to sit down for this, subby, but Rod Woodson and Darrell Green are also no longer playing in the NFL.

It's like Subby still thinks it's 2004 or something.

Subby must be new to the NFL.

Manning's not going to last another whole year anyway. Who's his backup? Dan Orlovsky?

Thank god. Finally. Champ Bailey was never worth what they were paying him. He let almost everything past him, in the selfish interest of only going for interceptions to pad his stats. Maybe now we get an actual CB.

Dude made Flacco look elite.  You know how hard that is to do?

Champ was, at one time, one of the best man-cover corners in the league. That's why he made the money he did.

That said, that was a while ago. He hasn't been that good in quite some time....I'm gonna go with 3-4 years ago.

Right now he's not even  'good'. At best I'd call him average.

....

It is time. He needs to go. Even if he signs elsewhere, he'll be 'meh'. Don't overpay for his long lost past. Just let him fade.

Right call.  Miss you Champ!  And that trade was totally stupid, you should still be playing in Washington!  Portis was a mess.

Champ Bailey has been living off his reputation for a while now. You could see that when he got torched by the Ratbirds in the playoffs two seasons ago, and this past year he was covered up by an offense that outgunned virtually everybody.

The whole defense was exposed in the Super Bowl, and he looked really, really old, far removed from anything resembling his Pro Bowl days.

Dude is OLD for a football player. They're better off using that cap space on someone a lot younger.

Champ's going to be 36 years old this year.  There's not a lot of miles left on him.
