The only city in the UK that would actually not surprise me when such an event occurs is, of course, Manchester.

/Birmingham is a close second

A couple friends of mine picked up a couple of those thingys while on a biztrip to the Philippines. The numbnuts brought them to our federal government office to show them off. I told them if they were caught by security in the office they'd get charged with a felony. I'm hoping they don't bring them back....

I enjoyed my visit there. Being a huge New Order fan I had to stop by Dry for a couple of pints, just in case.

And many of you FARKERS wonder why cops have a reputation of being rude.  There are people out there with insanely creative ways of trying to kill them.

/Before you go nuts--yes, bad cops deserve to be punished--just think about the issues the next time you want to pile on a "dastardly" situation just off the headlines.

fickenchucker: There are people out there with insanely creative ways of trying to kill them.

That's no excuse for being rude.

If anything, the rudeness is WHY there's so many creative ways to kill them.

Back in the day, when all of Europe was running with blood from rapier duels, being rude WOULD get you killed immediately. (or at least put you in harm's way) Remember The Three Musketeers? It starts with a rude young man coming to Paris and finding himself in three duels to the death in half a day. And it all makes sense.

For the other side look at the Dali Llama. He's an enemy of the Chinese government. But even they won't dare hurt him because it would look bad. REAL bad. Why? Because he's the nicest guy on earth. He is always calm, appealing for peace, and very understanding. He obeys courtesy and tact. So, even though he has very powerful enemies who do in fact constantly try to stop him, they never consider resorting to violence at all.

So it's a fair and logical assumption to posit that there's many creative ways criminals employ to use violence against law enforcement BECAUSE law enforcement is rude and uncouth, and not vice-versa. We'll need to study it out of course, get a research grant, some grad students, a cute little kitten to catch mice around the office named Tora. Y'know research stuff. But that's what it looks like to me.

Doglover does have a point. Few things piss me off like having to clean up the mess another officer has made by being unjustly rude to the boogiemen.
