Ehh...it's good exposure for the city, but it's a pain in the ass for those of us who live here. Downtown is almost inaccessible & trying to get from north to south Austin (or vice versa) requires a Herculean effort.

For those of us on the north side of town, we can at least take the Metro Rail to Downtown, but I can't even fathom trying to drive into that crap.

The paper version better not go away. I don't think I could do without the challenging intellectual stimulation their crossword puzzle provides.

One of my friends posted a picture of the ad from 1989, the first year of SX, when she was involved in some of the booking. We all had a god laugh because it actually promoted local bands. Most people that live here rent out their place if they can and GTFO.

They have a lot of Worst Koreans there this year. Glen Check and Nell are pretty good.  HyunA, the girl from Psy's video Gangnam Style, is going to be there.  For some reason...(Her girl group, 4minute, sucks, although I like her subgroup Troublemaker).  Jay Park is like a Korean-American Justin Timberlake.

I concur! Poppy garage rock, which is rarely done well, especially as good as they do it. Damn, now I gotta dig up my old mp3's of their's I burned last year (PS, bought the original, no worries, but had to compact my collection for my move)

Nightwish closed out Wacken Open Air last summer and put the show out on DVD called "Showtime, Storytime."  Floor on vocals.  OH.  MY.  FARKING.  GOD, she's amazing.  I was never a big Tarja fan and while I like Anette I'd be the first to admit she had major limitations, but Floor blows them both out of the water because she's a tremendous frontwoman.  You can see the whole show on YouTube.  Trust me, look it up and you won't be disappointed.

Seen the first 20 min. so far..  she's decent on the older Tarja songs, but she really shines on the Anette ones.

Also, WB could do a lot worse than casting Floor as Wonder Woman.  :P  She looks powerful.

Same here. Just escaped Austin after 3 years of living there. The city sucks and the closer you live to downtown, the more the people suck. North Austin is alright but if you live there you might as well live in any suburb in america.

J. Roddy & the Biz rule. Still haven't made THE record yet they're capable of - the one that's as good or better than their live performances, but they will. Really nice guys to boot. Go see'em if you ever get the chance. BLAZING live act.

Floor's a big girl, six feet tall.  I've been a fan of hers since her band After Forever, which was much more straight metal than Nightwish, although I didn't care too much for her band before Nightwish, ReVamp.  I'm stoked to hear new Nightwish, but Tuomas is doing his Scrooge McDuck thing (which surprisingly is sounding pretty decent) so nothing until at least next year.
