Blues fan here...this article made me laugh. Hoping for the best, but the Blues are a cursed franchise. So many good/great teams over the years that never win the cup.

As a Blues fan I take that article as a compliment.

The little trashies downstate are pretty upset in the comments. "The Real Illinois" - oh, ok - we'll happily take our economy out of the real Illinois and see what's left. The only problem is we'd have to move to Wisky or Indiana - and that shiat is worse. Maybe Milwaukee to South Bend and south to West Lafayatte/Champaign can all become one new state - we can call it Notredneckistan

lol, yeah well, there is that...

Anyhoo, the only reason I've needed to hate the Blues was their unceremonious dumping of the Hawks in the '93 playoffs because CuJo got hot. fark them forever for that.

As a Sabres fan, I'm on the Blues bandwagon for the playoffs.

I'd love to see Ryan Miller get his name on the Cup.  That and I want the first-round pick upgraded from a third that results from St. Louis making the WCF.

Also, the article must be relying on Ott's old rep.  He's not a goon.  He's still very effective as a pest, and a good hitter, but I never saw him goon it up in his time in Buffalo.

Imagine that.

Same here.  Plus I was born in '67 so I'm the same vintage as the Blues.

Ow! That was my feelings!: Looking forward to the Blues/Avs tomorrow.

Ayup. The Avs will be there too. And they are looking scary good now. Can't wait until the defensive prospects come through to make this whole thing operational.

Sadly, the Blues have the Avs number this year. Tomorrow might be bad.

But they can at least beat the blackhawks like nobody's business this year.

That's Ok. We'll always have The Fenway Jorts 3-way.

6 or maybe 8 things I like about the Blues:

- All the blue stanchions around the glass. Looks cool.
- Vladimir Sobotka. Wish we never got rid of him in Boston, but it wasn't his time. But I'd take him back in a heartbeat.
- Marc Bergevin's own goal.
- Craig Janney once played there, and it's because he refused to play for the Canucks. Smart man. Oh, and Bill Guerin played there.
- CuJo was one of the coolest looking goalies of his time. And for whatever reason, I'll never forget the name Peter Zezel.  Hockey name.
- Being a Red Wing fan in the late 90's and staying up late for Yzerman's ripper.

Some negatives:

- Brett Hull's hair.
- Wayne Gretzky
- Anyone named Sutter
- When all the Douche's from the '94 Rangers crawled there afterwards.
- Erik "Golf Cart" Johnson over Jonathan Toews.

Don't worry... most Blues fans can't stand Keenan either.

But I'm glad to get the old feeling back from the 90s went the Blues and Hawks get together.

This is St. Louis' last shot to win. Hitchcock comes from the same school as Pat Burns, Mike Keenan, et. al: Coaches who are absolute dictators and ride their teams so hard that they only have a 2 or 3 year window where they can do something useful. After that, the players get fed up of the taskmaster stuff and tune him out, and things go south from there. Despite their pedigrees and winning reputations, these coaches never last long with any single team. It's always the same pattern: A good 1-3 years (maybe more depending on personnel developments), then a complete implosion, coach gets tossed out of town, and they try again elsewhere.

The wick on Hitchcock's candle is getting low in St. Louis. If they flare out in the first round this year, expect the team to self-destruct next year. Conversely, if they go far this year (Conference or Stanley Cup Finals), they might give him one more shot, then self-destruction.

At least, that's my theory.

Yup, I'll be on that bandwagon. Big fan of Ryan Miller. Hope he gets the cup.

Not a hockey fan at all, but I see where Chicago fans have some serious butthurt, after all, the Rams kicked and pounded the Bears asses back up to I-55 and kept them out of the playoffs, and the Cubs did their typical nose dive in April, while the Cards got another pennant, so I guess they have to glom on their hockey team (for the 3 years they've rooted for them) for success. (Yes I know STL can suck as a city - I moved a long time ago, IMO's sucks balls, jorts, blah blah blah, come at me, bro., I know the comments from Chitown will be flying fast.
