It's a good day when any corrupt politician goes to jail regardless of party.

But not nearly as common as the sun rising or Duke sucking, more's the pity

Long as whoever replaces him isn't a sleaze as well...and not being a crook is really asking a lot of Democrats from Brooklyn. Just in the past couple years, just in Brooklyn, there's been Boyland, Vito Lopez, John Sampson, Carl Kruger, and then there's Kevin Parker who at least hasn't decked any photographers lately.

I think the latest conviction puts Brooklyn ahead of Queens and the Bronx by a nose.

Is his former chief of staff carrying two purses?

I think that means spring is finally on the way.

Further proof that democrats, and ONLY democrats, are hopelessly corrupt and have no business being in charge of anything.

I tend to bash Democrats more than I bash Republicans but I have no problem admitting that Democrats hold their own representatives accountable waaaaay more than Republicans do. Republicans (to me) tend to make excuses for their own reps, while Democrats are like "Eh, get rid of him. He's not helping."

There more they convict, the more the crooks will shy away from this out of fear of being the next one.  well I at least hope this is the case.

That does not seem to be the case in the NY metro area. The bench is mighty deep when it comes to sleaze in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.

Over on the Jersey side, Newark had a run where every single mayor going back to 1962 got popped for corruption up until Booker came along, and his virtue seems to be that he was too busy shoveling sidewalks, rescuing treed cats, and going on talk shows to bother with anything so cheesy as stealing or taking bribes.

His underlings, though...

The term, "up the river" originates from the fact that convicts from New York City would be sent up the Hudson River to Ossining State Prison ("Sing Sing").

To sardonically paraphrase a poster from an earlier thread:

Oh noes, a politician took a bribe?

Yet the Democrats in Albany keep wondering why some of their brethren are cutting deals with the Republicans...

This right here.  This is the one instance where I'll slam Democrats even more than I do Republicans.  The type of crap they pull and they're ability to look into a camera and say "I didn't do it" without getting hit by lightning shortly thereafter is legendary.

Their hanger-ons are even worse; Washington insiders can take a page from them.  They're the type that would say that their politican didn't do it even when they're caught red-handed.
