Speaker2Animals: School officials say Chrysler told them two of the 93 early Vipers given to schools had been involved in accidents by joyriding students, creating a major liability for Chrysler.Yeah -- I think crushing them is a good idea.
AverageAmericanGuy: So much power, so little maneuverability.
ZAZ: I don't remember where I was when I heard about Columbine, so I'll go with (B).
brimed03: Or, Subby, he's a car guy. And for car guys, yeah, it'd be like that./not a car guy, but I appreciate a good body with nice headlights
Explodo: If you like cars, then it really is a real tragedy. The Viper is a beast of car and I'll never forget the first time I saw one...and heard it start up. Chrysler doesn't want them dumped on the market because that would hurt the investment value of the Vipers that were purchased by consumers. That's the real reason this is happening. If it weren't for that, lawyers could easily find a way around the liability and make them saleable.

b2theory: D) Avro Arrow killed to protect inferior American planes.
hlehmann: Who owns the car, Chrysler or the school? If there was some sort of a contract signed when the car was donated to the school then Chrysler would certainly have some say. Otherwise, I don't understand how Chrysler could demand the destruction of something that they no longer own.
wildcardjack: After being "studied" in tech schools for years I'd bet they are fubar'ed anyways. That being said, the first few should be conserved. Surely a museum piece.
