Looks like we are getting more of the nasty stuff tonight... sleet and freezing rain, changing to rain in the morning..  Doppler shows a mass of rain coming due north from NC, with snow and sleet to the west of us...  going to feed Fred and Tailer early to avoid going out in the stuff.....

So very sorry, do what you can with your family, my first wife's father had lung cancer and it was pretty rough, but we were all there right to the end.  As hard as that was, being together helped everyone a lot. Your Caturday family will be here with hugs and shoulders and ears to chew on and cute kittehs and funny capshuns as you need us too...

We finally go the call from the shelter, and on Tuesday in a snow storm on the way home from work, I picked up our new temporary housemates...
They are still in quarantine in the guest room for a couple more days, but they have the run of the room with some new toys, safe nest spaces and hiding places, a litter box of their own, food & water topped up often, and a ton more room than at than at the shelter.  We also have the nanny cam to keep an unobtrusive eye on the lot between visits.

this is the momma...
img.fark.net
she's young and slight, and skittish, but not as skinny or skittish as Pandora was...
(I love the tail wrapped around the nursing kitten...)

I guess we'll start with that one...

and there are two more...

and...

The kittens are almost 4 weeks and happy health playful tumbly fluffy smiles.  Should help the rest of winter to go by quickly.

2 CT sacans before surgery, 2 CT scans pre-chemo, at least one more post-chemo. More blood tests than I've been able to count. Chemo has me lethargic and achy, bot otherwise in good spirits.

YAY CATURDAY!

Just logged out from a sucky 90 minute marathon at work. I need to vent....

I was adding a new vlan and subnet to our core routers and distrubution switches. We have redundant equipment and run VRRP (which is identical to HSRP in Cisco terms). I was adding the config it to a secure segment which is to be firewalled (also redundant).
So I dump my scripts into all four devices and everything looks great, but I can't get the secondary router to respond. After burning my eyes out going over the same stuff ad nauseum I get the local engineer on the phone. After 30 minutes he can't find anything wrong either. Everything shows that it's up. I then discover that I can't get to many of the secondary interfaces that reside on the secure segment.

Turns out that someone was playing with the new firewall in front of the secondary router and must have loaded a rule set. We're not ready to configure them yet and they're supposed to be running in full passive mode.....apparently not anymore. So add to my loooong list of shiat to do tomorrow the fact that I'll need to spend lord knows how much time with the security team to get this sorted out.

Sorry for the totally geeky wall of text. I had to let that out.

That is a sucky day. I've had weeks like that. This week was close. For whatever reason one tab on one remote website needed to have a specific IP range and set of ports clear on my firewall in order to work. How stupid is that?

Just logged out from a sucky 90 minute marathon at work. I need to vent....

I was adding a new vlan and subnet to our core routers and distrubution switches. We have redundant equipment and run VRRP (which is identical to HSRP in Cisco terms). I was adding the config it to a secure segment which is to be firewalled (also redundant).

No, they're locked down. However after thinking about it I think I know how this may have happened.
Up to this point I've been managing access lists to restrict traffic in and out of those subnets. About a month ago a new guy in security was having trouble allowing traffic in to a specific host. He didn't know I was using access lists. I bet he loaded a rule set and then when he pulled it out he forgot to set it back to permit all traffic.

My little girl needs a trip to the vet tomorrow. We noticed symptoms yesterday. She won't jump or get on her hind legs and 'do paws', can't go up or down stairs, keeps her tail tucked down all the time, sometimes whimpers when she tries to lie down, yelps when she moves suddenly, and her poops are very short and thin (though not necessarily runny). She's almost 9. Hopefully just a bug and nothing serious but Mrs. Buck and I are concerned. If the Caturday gang could toss a good thought towards Jazzy it'd be much appreciated. Thank you.

We got a new and unexpected addition to the family today.  Our workmen found her stuck inside a rooftop AC unit.  It was tricky to get her out, but she is in good shape.  There was no mama to be found, so we took her home.  She's eating and drinking and already likes to be held.  She will be hauled in for shots, etc., shortly, but so far she seems 100%.  No injuries and she appears healthy.

She must have a little fold DNA in her.  The tips of her ears are folded over and she could not be any cuter.  At the least, she's a medium hair, but who knows, she might fluff out in the fall.  Oh, and you can't quite see it in the photos, but there is a little grey soul patch right on her chin.

She doesn't have a name yet.  My family is kinda bad about that - sometimes we'll have cats for several months before the right name turns up.  In the meantime, she has other kitties to play with, lots of food, lots of snuggles, and some cozy places to take a nap.

It's all good. In both my chosen profession (now a basically dead industry) and my current I could use words, phrases, and acronyms  that 99% of the general population would be lost trying to figure out. I suspect that's true of almost any profession. No matter how basic and easy a job looks, they all have their special lingo.

akimbotoo: John Buck 41: My little girl needs a trip to the vet tomorrow. Thank you.

yobbery: OlderGuy: I guess no PW on the secondarys yet....

No, they're locked down. However after thinking about it I think I know how this may have happened.
Up to this point I've been managing access lists to restrict traffic in and out of those subnets. About a month ago a new guy in security was having trouble allowing traffic in to a specific host. He didn't know I was using access lists. I bet he loaded a rule set and then when he pulled it out he forgot to set it back to permit all traffic.

lysdexic: This week was close.

Yeah, it really blows when nothing seems to go right and it's all because of stupid shiat. It's never anything exciting like an equipment fire.

sounds reasonable... I am fairly adept on computer issues but that level of expertise is way beyond me....  just replaced my routers with new ones rated for IPv6 also... will IPv4 addresses be converted?

LOL! Nope. Boy, I'd like to have one, if they were not endangered wildlife and would most likely eat me. They're the most beautiful of the big cats, IMHO.

BTW, good thoughts and wishes to you for Jazzy tomorrow at the vet. Hopefully she just has a little strain of her back or something that will heal easily.

L.D. Ablo: We got a new and unexpected addition to the family today.

What a cutie!!  She looks about the same age as the newbs at my house, maybe a little younger, she might benefit from some supplemental 'glop' without her mom around.  As for the ears, the cartilage starts to stiffen up at around that age, the ears might perk up in the next week or so.

I'll agree with the FARK CANCER sentiments.  We have a cousin in the last stages of what started as a Melanoma that wasn't caught until it had spread through the entire body (brain, too).  He was just diagnosed and started treatment a little over a month ago.  Now they've decided to stop treatment because the tumors were still growing despite the Chemo & radiation.  **Sigh**  He's my mom's cousin and I really don't know him, but it still sucks.  :(

**Insert another FARK CANCER pic here**

It's funny how 2+ feet of snow can melt in a couple of days when it suddenly jumps to the mid-40s to low-50s... Now instead of "holy fark, snow!" We're at "double holy fark, lotsa water everywhere!"  The city workers actually caused some panic here today because they rang the doorbell to tell mom the water was flooding into our garage.  It wasn't.  Not even close to doing so.  But to appease her, I had to go out and dig some mini-river beds for the stupid water to drain through.  Ummm... ouch... Not helpful for my back pain, nor did it help the stupid migraine that started last night.  The worst part is I was outside for over an hour digging & barely made a dent in what needs to be shovelled out!  Ok, enough whining.

Evidently he had some serious issues the other day. The info on FB was sent along by another Caturdite. He is holding his own last I heard. No idea what the issue is now. Poor kitteh, poor Sherpa18! I feel for him, and worry about them both.

The only other one we've been to was an emergency clinic on a Sunday 20 miles away 5+ years ago that we went to when our beautiful little calico kitty (Callie) got hit by a car. There was nothing they could do for her. Callies' legacy is that both Ripley and Jasper are indoor kitties, so in that sense Callie didn't die in vain. I guess.

My dearest friends, as most of you who do the FB thingee already know (thanks to valnt9) my beloved white boy suffered a severe relapse late last night, and I absolutely lost it after thinking he was getting better (for those of you who are allergic to FB as I am, he stopped eating, drinking, and began having urinary issues again). I honestly did not think he would make it through the night.

Much to my relief, he was still hanging in this morning, but as the day progressed, he would not eat or drink and looked to be in some distress. I spoke to my vet, and we agreed that his demeanor was indicative of one of two things - either he had developed crystals/stones (which at this point is doubtful could be dissolved by conventional methods and would probably require surgical intervention, which in turn he would most likely not survive due to his compromised condition) or his kidneys are finally just shutting down after 18 months of late stage renal failure (which again, is fatal).

We also agreed that it was probably time for me to help him over the bridge. I thought I was prepared for this, but after crying like a little girl, I sat on my bed with the white one on my lap, and asked him if he was ready to go - and if not, he had to show me a sign that I was pulling the trigger too soon.

A few minutes later, he got up and had a drink. And then waited for me to crack open a fresh can of food - which he ate half of. While it still takes him 3-4 minutes in the litter box to urinate, he IS going (no blood, yowling or straining) ... and has continued drinking and eating and napping.

I'm now well aware that the end is inevitably swiftly approaching - it may be a day, a week, hopefully longer - but realistically - probably not .... but now I'm sure he will tell me when.  And it ain't tonight. So instead of going to the vet, I scraped up some spare change and ran out and bought him a half dozen chicken wings and his favorite pouch tuna.

*sorry, i had to interrupt this post to watch the white boy devour half of the aforementioned pouch of tuna, have a drink of water and curl up on my bed for a nap*

Dragon and I want to thank you all for your love, support and good wishes as we both go through this - I for one could not have done it alone. You people are simply the best. I'm not sure how much I'll be around this week, it depends on how my baby boy is feeling, but I'll keep you updated as best I can.

Hello everybodeee!

 ^-^
='.'=

Weather's been a bit less brutal...which means the cats can go OUT. I'm grateful they haven't decided that' I'M responsible for the inclement conditions and taken it out on me (i.e., pooping and peeing in EXTREMELY inappropriate locations...or trying to destroy each other...or the furnishings).

The Ice Queen: What a sucky Caturday this week *edit:
FARK CANCER!* :(

Aw man...Hon, I wish you strength and serenity that you may be able to give this to your loved ones as they need it, as well as to yourself. Hope that came out right...

Raven and I work this weekend as usual.
Little Casper is always so glad to see Raven...doesn't even wait for her to get out of her carrier! Jumps right in there with her, little silver arms around Raven's neck *groom groom groom so glad to see you missed you so much play with me PLEASE?*

Casper gets PLENTY of attention from not only her own human, but from his housemates and the staff, but Raven is the only one of her 'own people' with whom she has to socialize.

Back to doing MAJOR cleaning... *le sigh* but it'll be worth it when I'm done, right?
RIGHT?

Somebody, please say "Oh yes, absolutely right!"

Thank Bast and FSM for White Zin-in-a-Box...

Sherpa
I am so sad for you right now, many of us have faced similar struggles at various times with our own furry friends, and when someone we care about is going through that, it brings back memories of our own trials with hopes of extracting some sage advice...
Dragon couldn't have picked a more caring human, and will let you know if and when.
I'm afraid that's maybe not exactly sage advice, but I keep getting distracted with all the dust flying around over here..

sherpa18: My dearest friends, as most of you who do the FB thingee already know (thanks to valnt9) my beloved white boy suffered a severe relapse late last night, and I absolutely lost it after thinking he was getting better (for those of you who are allergic to FB as I am, he stopped eating, drinking, and began having urinary issues again).

Thank you for keeping us non-FB folks in the loop. I know you'll do what is best for Dragon when the time comes. Take care of both yourselves.

Sherpa18 I am glad to hear that Dragon is perked up a little. While you are taking care of his needs, please make sure to take care of yourself too. You have a huge family right here, and I think I speak for everyone when I say, we are here for you. Please give Dragon skritches and hugs from me and Wentworth.

Oh Sherpa my heart was heavy last night when I heard things weren't going well for Dragon. I hope he can find some strength to get over this hurdle and stick around a while longer. He'll tell you when he's ready to leave, they always do.  I'm glad he chose not to go yet and can enjoy some more chicken wings and tuna.

John Buck 41: My little girl needs a trip to the vet tomorrow. Thank you.
[farm6.staticflickr.com image 528x396]

Aww, sending snuggles & healing thoughts to little Jazzy!  Poor sweet thing.  Fingers crossed that it's just a temporary blip, merely constipation, or something minor that will clear up by itself.

If funds allow, I would wholeheartedly recommend the vet do a geriatric panel blood test while you're there, just as a routine part of the check-up, even if it turns out her current issue doesn't require it for diagnosis.  It can detect a wide assortment of issues very early on, many of which are very manageable and even curable in the early stages long before she would exhibit any symptoms.  Nine is hardly "geriatric" for many dogs, but things like liver and kidney disease, diabetes, certain cancers, etc can get a foothold very sneakily, and I would hate to have anything like that overtake yet another of our wonderful Caturday friends, if it is at all preventable.

Apologies if I'm preaching to the choir -- I thought it certainly couldn't hurt to mention.  If it catches something that helps her feel even a teensy bit better settling into her golden years, why not.

Best wishes for a good appointment tomorrow.  Feel better soon Jazzy!

sherpa18: Dragon and I want to thank you all for your love, support and good wishes as we both go through this - I for one could not have done it alone. You people are simply the best. I'm not sure how much I'll be around this week, it depends on how my baby boy is feeling, but I'll keep you updated as best I can.

Oh Sherpa.... May Ceiling Cat bless you and Dragon both.  Too many of us know what you are going through.  Please remember that in this difficult time, you are not alone.  Sending lots of love and strength.  We know you will do only what is best for Dragon, you always have, and you always will.  So glad he decided to hang around a little longer, please give him a little kiss for me, and take as many hugs as you need for yourself.

sherpa18 thank you for your update. It takes a great deal of strength to do what you are doing. Remember, we are here for you, you have my number, call if you need an extra pair of ears. I think many will agree that you are a very important part of the Caturday family. Please allow us the honor of grieving with you, when that moment arrives. We are here, and our arms are open wide.

Pretty much that goes for any one of our family. Lurker or poster.

Now, I gotta blow my nose and wipe my eyes and get ready for work. Hugs and prayers to you all..and scritches...cannot forget teh scritches

Jazzy and I are back from the vet. No high temperature, and her anal glands weren't 'too' bad. She has a spot on her bum that she's been scratching/chewing which could account for some pain, and a loose rear kneecap (which I don't recall being mentioned before). He gave her a steroid shot and Prednisone pills.

Thanks for all your good thoughts for her last night.

FangQ all who fetched mewbie pix, especially domari. Agree with spinach gunk & all others who said the one quite resembles Delta. 'Tis furrvently hoped she still rules roost as much as permitted. She seems to be A Type re coat pattern, which is good thing.
Also ya gotta sleep's nap shot. One who weighs 25 lb best be hugely framed to bear those lb safely. Too, lilyspad's cat scan & lysdexic's cat router watches u reticulate. Both of which am fairly sure had saved, now got 2 in varied locales, 99.4% likelihood.

I was much better this week myself, but had to laugh. A neighbor was just released back into her house from an assisted living place. Her first call was to me, begging for "any sort of smoked meat". I was just about to slice a pork butt for our dinner but had the teenager run it over to her. She called two hours later giving thanks but requesting I get her a duck, smoked fish, and a few other things. As well as calling at 6:30 this morning to remind me of her food needs.

On the far funnier side, "Panther explorer" our older alpha cat is getting old, no longer able to do the jumps he used to. But he still requires me to be available to sleep on. Yes, he runs the household. I have a large catnip garden every year. Panther discovered the hiding place last night and brought up a bag almost as heavy as he was that had catnip, toys, etc. This morning my wife woke up and was in hysterics, waking up Panther and myself. The bed was strewn with dried catnip, his majesty was curled up in my arms and snoring. Panther and I both just gave her the evil eye, I rolled over and Panther curled up next to me after giving a half hiss to her. Which caused much more laughter. Panther was still upset when the neighbor called and then curled up with his behind close to my face as he does to show displeasure. More wife laughter. Never marry a dog person.

John Buck 41: Jazzy and I are back from the vet.

The sandhills around here pretty much stick to the fields and marshes. Is yours a migrating population or do they stick around? We only get migrants.

They seem to stick around, usually in pairs. I see them wander across some very busy roads, including I-95 once in a while, if there are marshy areas on both sides. It's not unusual to see those roadside signs with "crane crossing" on them here and there.

So today I am sitting in my office working when the Sr. VP taps me on the shoulder and says something.  I got up to follow her into her office.

Coworkers mouths were open, thinking 'Andi is gone'.

nope.  She (VP) told me 'The baby's here'.  The baby is her 14 week old German Shepard.  I went in there and immediately went to the floor to snuggle that HUGE puppy and get puppy kisses.  I have no idea why she told me and no one else. no idea at all.  It could be because I have shared dog horror stories: Dyson unstuffing the sofa, Dyson eating a blue ink pen on my carpet, Dyson running with my unmentionables.

I walked back to my desk and my coworkers mouths were still open.  I had to tell them.  And I walked more than one in there to see the dog.

Still snickering at the whole thing.

what a dog who unstuffs sofas looks like

For lajimi, not said if this is significant  natal anniv or not.  Catptionated this to reflect that, purrfectly adequate space between kitty & cake for "On the occasion of your new line significant birthday --" in one of those upper&lower caps fonts.  Chorus director has Significant to be celebrated by chorus come Mon.  Sending you lajimi more music but in barbershop harmony style cuz that's what Plumbicon & I both do.  & no, it hasn't caused cats to run screeching from room. We at least make sure we sing in tune, & neither of us is a baritone (they sing all leftover notes in bbs arrangements).
Torilyndria, tnx for coming in to wish sherpa & Dragon as well as can be managed.  From us that continues, ceaselessly & automagically.

Per advice from TFD on my thread, reposting in the Caturday thread =^.^=

I'd really appreciate some advice on getting a new kitten.  I had two cats: Razz (Female, unk. Age, not fixed per vet recommendation) and Kuroi (Male, 10, fixed).  I had to put Kuroi to sleep on 2-7-14 (thanks for the condolences in the Caturday thread this past week folks), and I've noticed since then that Razz seems lonely.

So I've decided I should get a new kitten/baby/very young cat to both help patch up my heart and help Razz not go crazy while I'm away at work or out for any other reason.

Advice time: I was never able to break Kuroi of his occasional spraying (even when he and I lived alone, he'd still mark), so I'm hesitant to get another male cat.  However, I loved the balance of feminine and masculine nature in my pets.  I think both Razz and I would love a new baby girl though too.  So, knowing my abode must have Kuroi scent everywhere, would it be foolish to get a new baby male? Would I be setting myself up for another decade of trying to stop/circumvent natural, inborn behavior?
I can make the other big decisions (rescue vs. craigslist, etc) on my own, but this male/female part I am just stuck on, given the previous inhabitant.
All and any advice would be appreciated!  Thank you in advance :)

Yeah, it really blows when nothing seems to go right and it's all because of stupid shiat. It's never anything exciting like an equipment fire.

well first I am going to recommend you get a cat urine remover called " the Enforcer" do not laught it really works and you can getmit frm amazon, then, I would say any kitten would do, but maybe if he is more used to a female, then a female kitteh might be good. Just my off the cuff opnion. Maybe a feliway collar would help his spraying, and be sure to check his urinary health.

VOCSL5, repeat condolences, or first if I failed to offer, on Kuroi's having to leave.
I ought not try to advise, as our owners all but eldest came to us.  Rational advice may be, tho: Go Visit locations you may adopt from. Youngling who likes you may choose for you whether female or male. Full stop.
JohnBuck41, please skritch Jazzy for us, tho belatedly. Furrgot to request that.
Has anyone else yet seen the 17pic string Every dog should own a cat ? Rcvd today from chorusmate who'd love a cat or 2 but they both allergic. Need go transcribe a bunch, can prep to fetch if no one's seen yet.

**  DRAGON UPDATE  **

So far so good! The white boy is still hanging tough, he decimated his chicken wing last night, and seems to be comfortable - although it is still taking him an extended period of time to urinate (but he IS urinating) he is eating, drinking, and he just  interrupted my trying to type this with a massive cuddle/purr session. He also spent about 20 minutes grooming himself after dinner - also a good sign.

While I have not yet gotten caught up on the entire thread (lots of comments I have to respond to) I once again want to stop and thank everyone for their support, it means the world to both of us.

tigerose: VOCSL5: Per advice from TFD on my thread, reposting in the Caturday thread =^.^=

Thank you in advance :)

well first I am going to recommend you get a cat urine remover called " the Enforcer" do not laught it really works and you can getmit frm amazon, then, I would say any kitten would do, but maybe if he is more used to a female, then a female kitteh might be good. Just my off the cuff opnion. Maybe a feliway collar would help his spraying, and be sure to check his urinary health.

What tigerose said.

It seemeth me that males and females tend to divvy up territory differently, hence the nice 'balance'.
YMMV...

Yeah, it really blows when nothing seems to go right and it's all because of stupid shiat. It's never anything exciting like an equipment fire.

As someone who has worked in kitchens for the overwhelming majority of her life, I am kinda an expert in that department. Believe me when I say you totally don't want any of that type of excitement. Ever.

I work in IT, software developer, and at my last job I got a somewhat frantic call from an accountant saying he had a problem and although I wasn't a help desk person I'd written the last update to his system so could I come and see what was going on. When I got to his office there was an acrid smell before I even opened the door - his PC was on fire. Actual smoke and flames coming from under the desk. I fetched an extinguisher from the corridor and put it out. When I asked him why he didn't just do that himself and hit the fire alarm he said it was an IT thing and he thought he should call us first. This guy has a degree, a mortgage, a family, a car - how does he even manage to operate on a day to day basis?

I did enjoy spraying it. Called it "the reverse flamethrower" to give it militaristic qualities in my own mind. I left the clean up to the dish room crew, which totally worked out because when a fire starts in the dish room in a bare corner where there is not even a cable for any equipment, it kind of tells you that they did something they will never admit or tell, but means they also will say nothing while being compared to an incredibly unintelligent and very ugly horse penis in Norwegian at high volume while they are cleaning it up. It was one of the perks of the job, I guess. Also, I did not realize I could swear like a Viking that easily when I was really mad until it came out of my mouth like that.

I saw one similar to that a couple months ago, but even more disgusting. Also, a faux frostbite pre-amputation level Halloween manicure, but that extended to the knuckles and I'm not sure how it would hold up. I do know how to do some pretty realistic artificial wounds with no special make up, but bear in mind that I have a lot of make up. Not as much as I have nail polish, but it's still a lot. (special brushes for EVERYTHING, too!) I think I was a pretty pretty princess in a previous life or something. Or wanted be. Whatevs.

I did find a whole box of nail polish I'd forgotten about - around 30 of them! - and a lot of them are spring and summer colors, so I'm going to ponder those over the next couple days. Right now I'm wearing dark royal purple with green and gold geometric designs and dots on them for Mardi Gras. Going to switch them out probably tomorrow or the next day with something else, even if it's just a different color until I find some inspiration.

Yeah, that's a huge mess, especially anywhere near the food prep area. If our "incident" had not occurred in the dish room and very near closing time, we would have lost a lot of money cleaning everything up to food safe standards. Probably would have had to throw thousands of dollars worth of food out, too.

You were very smart to run, in other words. lol!

Sherpa, I've been sitting here for a while now, trying to think of something to say about Dragon, and there's just nothing that's RIGHT to say, because there can't be. I have been there with my Mr Marmalade, and then his sister a month later, and it was indescribably awful. I know Dragon will be OK because you are there and will be until the end when it's that time, but I'm worried for YOU. I really don't know what to say other than I am really very sorry you are going through this and wish I was nearby so I could come sit with you and you maybe wouldn't feel quite so alone, even though I know and you know you're not alone. I remember that feeling and know you gotta be feeling it too. I'm so, so very sorry. I wish there was something I could do. :'-(

Oh, FFS. I'm sure it made sense to the guys who were doing the welding, but it was probably the "I'm here to weld it, not empty it" kind of 'sense'. Ms Manager (as they shall forever be known regardless of gender) just needs a good whack to the head. I don't know how things work where you actually work, but how it goes down in a kitchen is if you see smoke and it ain't a line cook having a bad day with some toast, you IMMEDIATELY pull the alarm and shut everything down. Nothing resumes until it is determined there is not only no fire, but also that there is no immediate danger of fire - so the smoke must literally clear. Maybe things are different in other work environments - I dunno. We're a bit touchy about fires in most kitchens, ya know. :-)

Here, have a cat.

Just so we're on the same page I agree with you. I'm sure the idiot in question didn't want to be bothered with the paperwork if the fire alarm had been pulled. And as for the welder not checking first to see if it was empty, that's just industrial-grade stupid.

Good Meowning! Eli is being decorative, taking his morning baf next to the orchid.

Going to be a chore filled day today. Need to clean, do laundry, " gently" encourage my son to clean his crud up so he is organized to go back to school. Not taking him today, dining commons are not open. The logic of opening one and not the other eludes me!

Grandma O finally left this world for the next last night with us all there. I want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for your support, advice and putting up with me being an annoying twat waffle these past months. You guys deserve sainthood you know that?

My condolences on your loss.
And I can't think of a better place to be an annoying twat waffle, after all we all have those days.

lilyspad: Real Women Drink Akvavit: OlderGuy: Real Women Drink Akvavit: yobbery: OlderGuy: I guess no PW on the secondarys yet....

As someone who has worked in kitchens for the overwhelming majority of her life, I am kinda an expert in that department. Believe me when I say you totally don't want any of that type of excitement. Ever.

Awww, come on.... you mean you don't enjoy cleaning up all the yellow powder blown everywhere?

/got some Spanish and German in there, too IIRC
//they only understood the Spanish
///and the intent

Cat doing it's impression of me right before one of my very rare, but also very scary, verbal explosions of rage

I want to piss her off just to hear her swear!  I don't know anyone who speaks Norwegian, would be fun to hear!

I am so sorry for you loss, been there, done that and it's really hard.

I am so stealing "annoying twat waffle" - I know some people who so deserve that term.

I am beyond devastated. yesterday my son had to make the hardest decision we pet owners have to face. His courage was more than I would expect from a 19 y/o young man. Toby was a sweet young dog,RIP you good boy. After returning home I discovered that my beloved best friend of 8 1/2 years, Scruffles, was in respiratory distress so off to the emergency vet again to see a second loved one be helped over the bridge in the space of 6 of the worst hours of my life. RIP Scruffles. I know it will get better in time but right now I still can't stop crying.

God morgen! I've been awake for HOURS and am tired and cranky and owie - but not owie enough to take the heavy duty pills. Suckage! Bring it ALL on or leave me be, dammit! I've decided to go to the store and buy more baking supplies instead and then maybe I'll be owie enough to take the heavy duty pills. If not, I'll actually start baking. Then I'll get so tired so fast I'll fall right back to sleep in no time flat, so either way, it's the closest to a "win" I'm going to get right now.

I hope everyone else is having a good day, and if not, that it gets better - or at least as good as it can be and the sads and owies and sicks are behind you as quickly as possible.

Easter is coming up next month. Apparently that means it's time to dress your hedgehog. I'm going to need a hedgehog...
