alice_600: Grandma O finally left this world for the next last night with us all there. I want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for your support, advice and putting up with me being an annoying twat waffle these past months. You guys deserve sainthood you know that?
tigerose: Well tonight we are hazing Steamed Salmon, red pepper, sugar snap peas and mushrooms. Plus rice. I have a bamboo steamer, so I will put the hard veggies in the bottom and the salmon on the top tier. Added a bit of mirin to the veggies. Going to steam the shrooms with the salmon, which I will add a bit of soy and sesame oil.On the other burner is tomorrows lunch of oxtail soup. After cooking for 2.5 hrs, I will pull the meat frm the bones, then stick it in the fridge and defat in the a.m.Hungry yet?
sherpa18: This has obviously been a very brutal Caturday for many people and my sincerest condolences go out to you all.Unfortunately, it is with a very heavy and broken heart that I have to add to the list as I had to help my white boy over the bridge a few hours ago. As much as I did not want to let him go, I knew in my heart that it was time - and the very least I could do for my faithful friend of almost 18 years was not to make him suffer for my sake.He was always there for me through the years since he was a kitten - through sickness, family issues, job changes, money problems, divorce and relocation - and all he ever asked for in return was a few chin scritches, a lap to purr on and his gooshy food (and of course the occasional spicy chicken wing).I would like to believe that I saw gratitude in his eyes as I held him while he slipped away, acknowledging that I was trying to return the favor and be there and do what I believed in my heart what was best for him.There will never be another cat as special to me as my white one was. I know you will all understand, because in a very real way, Dragon belonged as much to Caturday as he did to me.Once again, I thank you all for the love and support you have provided to me and the late fuzzy white boy over these many years. You have enriched our lives with your humor, comments and captions, and for welcoming us into the best family we could ever hope to be a part of.Rest in peace, my dearest friend. I've been making some demotivators with animated gifs but they've been too big to post.I'm sure there must be an easier way, but to make that one I performed a Q&D hatchet job pasting text boxes onto individual frames in layers in Photoshop Elements. :opThis site is great for resizing animated gifs: http://ezgif.com/resize (thanks to Sherpa18 for the tip). You can crop off file-bloating edge bits, re-scale image dimensions, simplify colour palette, etc. It even tells you how big the resulting file size will be in the output samples, so you can keep whittling down until you get below the Fark 1024K threshold. Very handy!
