Here's my favorite exchange ever on Deadwood:

Jarry: Perhaps then, rather, at this moment you are Socrates to my Alcibiades, taken it upon yourself to edify me.\

Hearst: Are you saying you want to fark me?

The same network where you can already see all 36 episodes of Deadwood on demand?  Well whoopty farking do.

I bought the whole series years ago on DVD for $5 at Best Buy.  Best $5 I ever spent.  I have no idea why BB couldn't just ship the DVDs back, because that had to be less than what they paid for it.

I, uh, don't watch much TV. 100$ a month + premium channels is too expensive for me.

I don't think so. pauper's field in denver would be my best guess 'cause it doesn't look like he's planted with the rest of his kin in oskaloosa.

What most forget is that the majority of adult males in Deadwood were Civil War veterans who had seen horrors.

Not at all; that was among my many questions. There were several directions things looked to be heading and I really, really wanted to see where they'd go

Irrelevant...because...

GRCooper: Awesome show - I even liked the ending (the badasses got biatchslapped by someone infinitely more ruthless and powerfull)

Exactly. Sure, more seasons would have been nice, but the ending is perfect for what Milch wanted to say. There is no frontier in America, there is no freedom, there's only brief pockets of agency and relative innocence before it's irrevocably corrupted by those with money. At the end of the final episode, what's happened: Hearst gets away with everything, Deadwood is more city than camp, Swearingen and Bullock are left to watch Hearst ride off, mouths agape and impotent, as nothing they could do could "save" the camp. We don't need to see gunfights with Hearst's mercenaries to know that Deadwood, as it was in the hearts of its founders, was long since dead.

It's all just amalgamation and capital. And the most telling moment of the series is that Bullock did not know the import of that expression.

I really need to watch the series again. Probably one of my favourite shows of all time Just hard finding the time when you have a 3 year old who always wants to know what you are doing. Too many words there she doesn't need to take to preschool.

That said with regards to the cancellation, there is tons of blame to go around. I mean yes HBO did pull the plug, but at the same time from what I read Milch was pretty much checked out after the 3rd season. I mean they gave him the chance to do a shortened season, not to mention the movies. The fact that those didn't get made seems to be all on him.
