I know, Stephanie right?  You're not subverting the dominant paradigm by coopting and feminizing Stephen.

Great book.  I especially enjoyed the concept of marriage for love being an absurd premise in the pre-Victorian era.  That and the argument that Abraham Lincoln wasn't gay because frottage was pretty normal in his era.

Driving home to Maryland from Kansas during vet school there was a whole series of billboards through most of Missouri advertising the various business (cars, RVs, real estate) of Tom Raper.  Gotta think I'd have changed my name if I was going to go into a business with said name plastered all over it.

As a feminist male-person fighting against the oppressive, exploitative, misogynist patriarchal dialectic that traps us into conforming to the values of the culture of domination in order to maintain our personal sovereignty, I see what you did there.

1) Why would you go to veterinary school in MARLYLAND, if your folks lived in Kansas? KSU would have been less than half the cost. Did you have a scholarship or something?

Also, I agree; the first thing I'd do at 18 if my last name was Raper is change it to something else. Like Therapist, or something.

As a pre-teen living in Indiana, I recall many drives east of Indianapolis towards Richmond and laughing like Butthead at the endless Tom Raper signs.

I think it's more disappointing that Indiana's number one source of homes is a guy selling trailers.

"Coontz said men have doubled the amount of house care and tripled the amount of child care from the 1960s. "   -FTA

wtf does that mean?  how can men triple the amount of child care required to raise a child compared to the 60's?    in the 60s they were previously allowed to ignore them?   or keep them in a pen in the backyard?

Might have been Indiana. It all started looking the same after the first half hour or so of the 20 hour drive.

Or you could not drag all of us into your forced women's studies program and let us get a nice education based on hard work, study, and old fashioned book learning.
It's really sad they have to have a celebration of the vaghoohoo month and wave the red flag and have a guest speaker at the expense of all the other students.
Also, subby owes me a farking keyboard.

We drove through there about 5 years on a church youth group summer mission trip.  (I was an adult.)  4 vans with about 3 dozen high schoolers passing sign after sign with TOM RAPER on it.  (They went on for MILES!)  Good times...
