RedPhoenix122: I thought North Korea is a prison camp.
durbnpoisn: So it's, vote for who we say over here, or get executed over there.Either way, they have a good tab on their citizens.Wow... What a horror show that place is.
durbnpoisn: generallyso: naughtyrev: I was going to ask why they bother spending the money to hold elections that are clearly a sham, but when you double it as a census I guess it makes sense to have the people come to you, rather than you going to them.It helps keep people docile even if the result of every election is simply more of the same. Works the same in any country. If you're implying that the same is true for this country, let us examine that point...In this country, you get to freely vote for whatever candidate is on the ballot. That's what is popularly believed. Yes, you can vote for one of the smaller parties. But since they don't stand a chance of winning, you are effectively either giving a vote to the favored winner, or simply throwing it away. The candidates for the BIG parties are chosen by those parties. The closest thing you have to a say in who that will be, is being able to choose from their selections for who to choose. Efectively simply narrowing it down, and nothing more.In the end, you vote for who they allow you to vote for.Other than the possibility of imprisonment for treason, it pretty much sounds exactly the same...
