It's a dumb strategy. The angrier they are, the more likely they'll go the way of Breitbart himself.

FNN is really, really popular, subby.  NewsMax is smart to try and tap into that "left on in the background of bars and auto-repair places, old-folks' homes and bible-college lounges" market.

But seriously: why the hell not?  There is a market.

Holy crap. I joked about News Max TV existing yesterday in this thread. What a shiatty thing to be prescient about.

I'll watch it for a laugh. Of course, their ad demographic of disaster food insurance and boner pills won't have me subsidizing the endeavor, but that's fine with me

It sounds like they want to to the LEFT of FOX, not more derpier, but less.

They have to combat that ever-present LIBERALMEDIA.

It's always on in the waiting room at my local VA pharmacy, where the old Army and Navy retirees are solemnly nodding along about the evils of government health care, while waiting for their number to be called so they can pick up their government-provided boner pills.

I know it's probably not illegal to stoke the fires of civil war with misrepresentations, "accidental" mis-labeling of political players and outright lies just to make money, but it seems like it maybe should be.

it's true; the article does say this. however that would still put them to the right of Der Stürmer.

NewsMax TV?  24 staright hours of GoldLine infomercials, seduction secrets infomercials and whatever this "thing that power companies hate" is?  I love it.  Fleece the rubes.  I mean, any asshole can buy pumpkin seeds, but how many people can buy Patriot Pumpkin Seeds at a 400% mark up?

2014-03-06 02:19:53 PM
I'd ask how that's even possible, but I actually don't want to know.  What's sad is that it will make Fox look moderate by comparison.

Although, I should thank FNN for my favorite moment of TV ever, Karl Rove's complete meltdown on election night.

One good thing about another right-wing news channel...now I have an extra channel that I can
avoid watching.  By the way, the name "Christopher Ruddy" becomes  "C. Ruddy" which becomes
"cruddy"....good thing his name isn't  "Sam Hitty".

OOBE Juan Kenobi: "Our goal is to be a little more boomer-oriented, more information-based rather than being vituperative and polarizing,"

On the hour, our topics include:

Rap music - is it harmful to our grandchildren?

Peter Fonda's newest movie - where can you find it at Walmart?

How to protect your gold from Obama's economic tyranny - is the global market collapse coming?

Floor humping - not just good exercise, but also godly?

Weren't the 60s great, until those liberals ruined it for everybody?

I hope they give the floor humper his own pundit show.

Good call on not filing this under "politics", but "entertainment" is stretching it, too.

Maybe "business"?

Is there a "fail" page yet?

No one watches MSNBC. Cable news is for people who want to be told what to think. Sean Hannity telling you what he thinks about the news isn't news, it doesn't teach you anything except what Sean Hannity thinks. I can barely imagine a bigger waste of time.

MORE boomer-oriented than Fox?

Are they just going to run Father Whatshisname broadcasts from the 30s, inveighing against that socialist FDR and his his infernal meddling on the world stage? Pinball from Saving Private Ryan to the first 10 minutes of "Platoon" to John Wayne marathons to Bedtime for Bonzo to video of the Berlin Wall coming down?

I'm really asking here: How does one get MORE Boomery than Fox?

Ah, network news, the people who will give you 8-10 minutes on Justin Bieber throwing eggs but ignore stories dealing  with Benghazi and the IRS.  And I agree about Hanniety, he is a bit shrill for me.

ignore stories or do you mean opinions? because if you think those two topics have been ignored, i have to come to the conclusion that you aren't paying attention.

Well I think you're not going to be too happy then.

- potato is a food ... I think it is here to stay
- herp is fading
- tard seems to have replaced "retard" without picking up the the non-PC stigma so I think it will be here for a while as well
- derp has taken on a very specific meaning that there is not a pre-existing word for: paranoid right-wing idiocy. I think it may stay around as long as Fox News has an audience

Maybe the world needs to grow up and stop acting in a way that requires the rest of us to describe them this way?

Much like Fox News, this won't be a conservative news station.  It will be a conservative opinion station.

The town jitney driver has the radio version of this on every once in a while.  Couple of nights ago the announcer was talking about how mainstream media has decided to report pedophile scandals in order to criticize Catholics and ignore violent Muslim fundamentalism.  It was one big bucket of crazy.

If people are getting their news from TV, it means that they don't have the money or inclination to get internet access.  In other words, you are old.  You are so old that you can remember when houses had a single phone that sat in the front hall and there were tumbleweeds blowing down your street.  Your first car had a hand crank in the front.  Or possibly an opening in the floor with which to propel it with your feet.

MSNBC is not perfect, but at least they understand when a story they air is wrong. Fox "news" has never issued a retraction. In fact, they have maintained that everything they air is the truth, even if proven to be a lie by the evidence.

Fox willingly lies to their base.

Willingly ignoring made up "scandals" like Benghazi and the IRS. The only people that actually believe those are real scandals are idiots who have Fox "news" and Newsmax think for them. None of it is based in any kind of reality.

Using childish memes to discuss politics is not exactly leading by example. There are ways to carry on a conversation about these topics without resorting to such unoriginal, boring, overused tactics.

Also, people need to stop saying, "butthurt". I hope no one actually uses that phrase in real life.

If your mental state can take the hit, go on their site and read the comments on any article involving homosexuality.

The hate on stormfront is a lifestyle hate. It's a comfortable, easygoing hate. Those guys just hate and that's what they do. They like it. The hate makes them happy.

Then you have Newsmax. It's frantic, desperate, buried six inches under the surface with ever increasing pressure. It's a screaming in their ears, the bulging forehead vein and uncontrolable sweating.

Reading them will take something from you, but my god is it a spectacle.

1) I think you know what use of potato I mean
2) Not fast enough
3) I still think using "tard" is lazy, and just as childish/insensitive as "retard".
4) Derp has lost all of its zing after the first few million responses. To me, it's interchangeable with "tard". It's lazy and unoriginal. I don't need 10 threads a day filled with nothing but variants of "LOL DERP TARD". People need to think of something original and/or meaningful to post, rather than posting for the hell of it.
