So this woman chooses to be in porn. And yet Time magazine calls her a confused adolescence? Christ if you're 18 you're a sexual adult who can be drafted to die for our country. You can certainly bone whomever you want for whatever reasons.

One of my bussers back in the day decided to head back to school. She did so by saving, and working, and then when that wasn't enough to cover all the bills, she did some nude modeling. And it paid the bills. She was in control of when she worked, who she worked with, and as a former junkie, she was damn sure to keep clear of some of the traps that can get laid out in that line of work. She quit working for me, but she kept in touch, and she wound up working maybe two days a week, and covering all her school bills and rent and books. She didn't tell her classmates about what she did. She studied damn hard. She got her degree, and she never went back, but for damn sure, she got her money's worth out of posing and making faux love to girls she was introduced to for shoots, for shut ins and Studmans across the country. She made more than if she was stripping, and while she probably could have had a career in porn, she really wanted to go into real estate. Which she did. And she's doing pretty well for herself. She was smart about it, she was damn careful who she worked with, and if anything, her years actually on the street when she was a teenager gave her all the incentive she needed to stay clean, stay focused, and take money from guys who probably didn't respect her, but then again, she got paid, and never looked back.

Selling teen pussy isn't a novel enterprise. "I'm doing it to pay for college" isn't a novel justification.

Don't care if you do it, won't care when you face the consequences.

No matter how many pr0ns you do... you'll never suck as much as Duke.

I worked with a girl in a situation like that. She told me after she started to work that she was working with the company I worked for just for the benefits. She was making a lot of her money from cam shows. She was smart enough not to talk about what she did at work, showed up on time, did her work and was one of the better employees we had. She got a better job after a while and still does cam shows, damn I think I know at least 3 other women that do cam shows, including an ex GF.

Yep.

People don't judge porn stars because they have sex. They judge porn stars because they do things like get choked and spat on on camera for anyone to see.

Go ahead, feel empowered by doing porn, but that feeling is lying to you. It is a surrender of power over your own life, if other people know who you are.

/Not saying doing porn is wrong
//Saying it's stupid to do extreme porn without expecting judgement.
///Choked and spat on is not empowering.

2014-03-06 01:47:13 PM
Apparently she does "rape" like porn and even some of the more "liberal" opinions in this area, and there are people that will justify near anything here for empowering women, are not too fond of her and her empowerment argument.

independent opinion blog here had her name, family address highschool and all of that info posted almost immediately after she did that editorial.

Amazes me though that people act like she isnt just being a good capitalist increasing her demand and interest and probably making more money

It's hardly puritanical to judge people for doing things on camera that most people find disgusting for reasons completely unrelated to prejudice.

I judge the people who self-mutilate for sexual enjoyment, too. My judgement tells me they're farked up. Is that wrong?

Isn't that the thing? How many Farkers download or at least view porn daily? Heck, Fark has a Boobies tag even. Yet, there is a stigma attached to the folks who work in this industry. Not the stink of masturbating furiously to someone's work, but the 'porn stink' of someone who's getting paid, that's the terrible thing.
No stigma attached to the folks who are stockpiling said porn, downloading it, collecting it, nope, there's a stigma attached to the folks who take their money. For doing things that y'all dream your partners will do, who do the very things that you and your partners do. It's a screwed up world, when folks attach more of a stigma to the folks who are taking their money, than the folks who demand the goods. More importantly: legal goods.

The author of the article is an idiot. Show me ANYONE who can pay for college in the above manner. THose jobs give the student a little spending money and not much more.

As a parent who has and is still helping kids through school, I find it difficult to argue with this young woman....

Colleges are insanely expensive. I think they may even have outpriced themselves.

I probably wouldn't equate homosexuality with being in the sex industry.

Don't think anybody sane is giving her shiat over doing porn, it's that she's calling doing rape porn empowering. Lots of college students do porn to make tuition money, or work at strip clubs. If every college student porn star made the news like this her it would be all that gets covered on the news.

That would make a really interesting high school debate team resolution.  RESOLVED: Playboy Magazine should be recognized as an authority on feminism.  Back in the pre-internet days, when you had to carry your basket of source magazines around with you to the contests, I bet a lot of the teams would have had plenty of Playboys to, er, draw on.  Of course, it'd be the first time they got around to reading the articles.  If they could unstick the pages.

But seriously, I do think a good case could be made that Playboy is in fact a bastion of feminism.  It would make a fascinating debate.

/csb: for one college assignment my team scripted and role-played the "indecency" trial of a porn producer (who was played by me, to everyone's amusement).  The rest of the class became our jury.  The girl who played my porn star/witness for the defense did a great job of explaining how the work made her feel empowered.  I got off.  My character was also acquitted.

"During school breaks, Belle Knox (that's her porn name - she's still keeping her real name under wraps)"

LAWLZ

Anyone with access to google can find her real name in 30 seconds. At least, unlike two weeks ago, there are now enough news articles about her that google doesn't auto-complete her porn name with her real name.

"On Tuesday, Knox was again a top search term when Playboy published an interview with her in which she revealed her porn name for the first time."

WUT? This was a secret until now? Last time this story was on fark someone posted her porn name before the thread even went green.

Either this woman is incredibly naive or she's already decided to quit school and go into porno full time and is working on building name recognition.

Outpriced themselves?  Not while a uni's Financial Aid department can milk a student for all the Stafford loans, private student loans, and other FAFSA products you can, and the student has no bankruptcy recourse.

It'd make an excellent counter argument.  Just onme example, and I don't know what feminists think of her, but...Is Hillary Clinton, of Wellesley College, a good example of feminism?  Potentially the first female president of the US -  considering what she's had to do as a politician (ie discuss foreign affairs and bargain and maintain economic agreements with nations that murder their citizens)?  And what of her marriage?  How does that compare to a woman who made a few bucks doing things on a much smaller scale that she chose to do?

Do you have the same opinions regarding sex, gender relations and politics that you did when you were 18?

You can be an adult and an adolescent at the same time. It's not a switch, it's a transition and I don't know of many in their late teens and early 20s who have deep understanding about these issues. (Not to mention the fact that biologically, the brain is still developing during this time.)

Nonsense.  There are plenty of transferable skills, but few people would be willing to take it seriously.  And no, I'm not trying to be funny.  Consider the guy who posted that job ad a number of years ago, in which he frankly admitted to having been a drug kingpin and listed all the transferable skills from that experience.  I'll bet some of the savvier porn stars could do the same, if only society was as willing to accept that as they proved to be willing to accept the kingpin's skills.
