What is the difference between rain and a pond?

Well, it is the south. They probably thought that black ice tried to carjack you or something.

They are very racist in the south.

Yes, because educating people on something they may not have a lot of exposure to is always a bad thing.

well, when the weather man says "black ice" they rednecks hear "black guys" and get very nervous.

Of course, this is what the south actually believes...

You know you're in the north when a category 1 hurricane is called a Superstorm.

Or you get an earthquake.  CSB:  Back in the late 80's, we had one at like 2am on night on Long Island. My mom thought it was the Russians nuking us....

Jesus, I went through all that trouble to watch the farking video for THAT?

Don't waste your time people, the takeaway is that ice is sometimes clear. That's really pretty  much it. It's sometimes kinda white like snow and sometimes clear like... Well, like ice. That's the E-N-T-I-R-E video.

"A wave of Trayvon ice is expected over Florida tonight as a storm front passes..."

The south hates it when their ice gets uppity.

I'm sure Travon doesn't need stormfront involved in this too.

(google that term with caution if you're at work)

Yep. Sometimes you don't see it, you just feel it.

Admittedly I wrecked a car thanks to black ice. I came around a corner and hit a sheet of it and went off the road. I probably would've been okay, but the field I ended up in was also where the MD DNR has decided to dump a bunch of rock when they were clearing another field. Bent the fame, cracked the rear axle...it was bad.

Black ice does carjack you, with you inside and driving at the time. Then it proceeds to rape you and anyone in the car with you. Then it steals all your money or raise your insurance. Finally it can and will kill anyone who's not wearing a seat-belt at the time. And its invisible at the time, no warning at all.

Trick is, as a driver is to: declench your buttcheeks because it hurts less that way. No sudden moves, as with all ice. Dont try to run away from it or avoid it by swearving, and thats no matter what car you drive. Relax, if you do, your experience will soon be over and everyone in the car will look afraid but unraped.

Relaxing is hard in these situations, so my boss once sent me to controlled skid courses. He didnt want the compagny truck to have a scratch I guess. I learned the trick of winter driving and ice driving.
1. Stay the fark away from anyone. Dont drive too close to me bastard and ill do the same. 5 seconds or more is key.
2. Drive at the speed all other mofos drive on the highway, or if alone at the speed you are most comfortable with. If everyone is driving too fast on the highway for you then you have no business driving on the highway, even if it IS your business driving. Im looking at yous taxi cab from india.
3. Learn self defense tricks, go on a shopping center as soon as you get any snow. Wait until its nice and white all over and play with your handbrake. Yeah, practice makes perfect, and will make you relax when the time comes. Thats when, not if.

The difference is that black ice has to use the other water fountain.

We wanted to know why, so we sent Meteorologist Dominic Brown into the "science lab" to explain.

Scariest moment I had was when I lived in Flag, it had been a couple days between storms, so there was no reason for the roads to be icy, I'm driving into work, and I suddenly cross the line of shadow from a cloudbank. Instantly the freeway went from bone dry to ice covered. I crossed a prefect line, saw the shadow on the road right as I crossed into it, and ended up swerving shoulder to shoulder. Took me close to a mile to get my Jeep back under control, it's so hard not to touch the brakes, I just had to shorten the parabolic arc a little bit each time. I had a serious case of the shakes for the rest of my trip, even though I was no longer in ice of any kind. Scary shiat.

Sandy wasn't called a Superstorm because it was a category 1, it was because it was merging with another major storm system from the Midwest, and also coincided with a high tide. In fact you might recall the term "Frankenstorm", which was used early on to describe what forecasters thought Sandy might become, which would be a hurricane mixed with lots of snow.

In my truck I'm goin' to Carolina
Can't you see the sleet fall?
Did you slip on the ice, y'all?
Reminds me that my tires are bald
But I don't give a f*ck
Because I'm going to Carolina in my truck

Our local meteorologists have to explain that every season, for all the transplants who have been "driving in snow" thier whole lives.
