(C|Net)   Here's a 1981 DeLorean modified to include an in-dash iPad interface. I bet when that baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're gonna see some serious shiat   (news.cnet.com) divider line 18

Hagbardr: You can get a Delorean to 88 mph?

I've seen one keep pace with a Ferrari on a Tunnel Run in London so... yes, yes they can.

Easily.  I think the fastest I've driven in a 1981 is around 110 indicated, and at that point I didn't like the idea of riding on a 25 year old suspension and dialed it back a bit.  The car can do it, but it takes a long time to get there.

I like most of what this guy has done, but the wheels and the spoiler have got to go.  He seems to have pretty good workmanship on most of his modifications.

To those upset about altering a classic car:  First of all, the Delorean has a plentiful supply of new old stock parts available (except the left front fender), so modifications, even those requiring altering the original parts, can be reverted fairly easily.  I spent a whole summer restoring a DMC and whenever I needed to modify a part, I got a new old stock part and modified it, setting aside the original so the car could be returned to stock in the future.  Second, the DMC is just about one of the most fun cars to work on, so it's begging to be tinkered with.  It's built like a big RC car, so tinkerers of all skill levels can have a fun and learning experience working on it.

Abe Vigoda's Ghost: Way to f*ck up the dash of a classic car.

Never mind that half the reason the car is considered classic is its heavily modified movie appearance.

I don't think applying Apple Maps to the fourth dimension is gonna end well for anyone involved.

I think I've lost some respect for Christopher Lloyd for appearing in that viral "HUVr board" video going around. All my Facebook friends are mad for pointing out you can see harnesses under the actors shirts in that thing. I'm sorry, but no technology exists to make a hover board do what it does in the movies or that video. And all that video is doing is replicating the same movie tricks. I am curious as to what it's promoting, though.

/sorry for the thread jack. Seems as close to a BTTF thread as there is going to be for now.
