Nice try, but his suspension came from the wacky tobacky.

The NFL really doesn't want to open the bag of worms of suspending players for legal activities.

They already do that. There's tons of stuff on the banned list that is legal.

Sudafed (unless prescribed).

A while back a player was talking about banned substances. He said the league gives out a list and a lot what's on it can easily be found in various supplements sold at places like GNC.

He said players have to be real careful about reading the ingredients.

More to the point, adderall is legal with a prescription but even then the NFL has to approve it.

In this case, Browner didn't get popped for adderall. Mike Silver, an NFL employee, in a rush to get a scope broke wrong information while going against the NFL's own privacy rules in the process.

In Silver's defense, he did say "oops, my bad". Hence the reason he's still employed by the NFL.

PEDs of some sort. He says it's Adderall; maybe that's true, maybe not.

But the point is, for all this talk about rampant PED use on the Seahawks, the fact is that the vast majority of it was by guys who were hanging around the periphery of the roster and just trying to make the team, who are now gone. If you want to criticize an organization, consider the ones that willingly picked these guys up after their suspensions (Jacksonville, Denver, Philadelphia).

The fact that Silver faced ZERO repercussion for that crap is insane. Had Pete Carroll even hinted that there was any kind of suspension coming down the pipe, the team and he himself would have been fined by the league, But hey, if the league itself leaks private (and totally incorrect) information to its own reporter...crickets.

Or one like San Francisco, whose head coach blasted the Seahawks for not holding their players to the Harbaugh High Standard of Professional ConductTM and then went out and immediately signed a guy coming off of a PED suspension (Eric Wright).

One of Browner's strikes under the drug policy involved failing to take piss tests when he played in the CFL.  Failing to take piss tests for the time that you did not work for the NFL counting as a strike seems like some real BS to me. Just my 2 cents.

This, I think, is why the NFL was so keen to settle before a lawsuit. They had nothing to win if the case went to court. Even of they won, all it would do is cement the punishment already in place. If they lost, the precedent could be brutally dmamaging to the system they have in place. Not to mention what kind of nuggets might come out in the discovery phase and end up plastered all over ESPN and the internet.

You gotta give the Seahawks credit.  For all the cheating they do, there's no better franchise at getting the results thrown out on on technicalities.  Hell, even Marshawn Lynch got his case, where he was drunk driving and ran over a woman and left her to die in the street, reduced to I think an unpaid parking ticket.

Yep. And the CFL doesn't test for pot, which is one of its selling points to undrafted college players and cut NFLers. "Come to Canada, make $70,000 a year playing football, hit the Montreal strip clubs when you are in town, and smoke all the primo BC bud you want." Sounds tempting, versus being a team's seventh receiver on the practice roster in Jacksonville or Cleveland.

Adderall was the BS excuse he fed to the press, but in the hearing his lawyers went after chain of custody, or how the sampling was handled, something like that. Didn't change that his piss was hot and he had the drugs in his system, just got the result thrown out.

Good for him, I guess.

You're supposed to write that in all caps.

(I say this because I assume you're doing an impression of Ben Roethlisberger in those PFM "Facebook conversations" where he always says "IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE..." and then points out what was blindingly obvious about the conversation up to that point.)

Seahawks fans, you may as well give up.  Your team is good, you just won the Super Bowl, and it looks like you'll be a major threat for at least a few more years.

What this means is everyone will hate your team.  Be proud, because it means they're feared.

Yeah, the piss cup was leaking so the tester poured it into a dirty one that he found lying around, and there were measurable chemical differences between the spot sample and the one that was sent back to the lab. What a trifling little technicality.

And Sherman never said he had tested positive for Adderall.

All i read was that the original cup was leaky, so the tester unsealed a new cup against protocol and transferred the sample. The tester apparently had had other minor problems in the past. No matter how small you think that breach of conduct was, it was a breach of conduct and nullified the test. You can think may things about the Seahawks, but they only had one player suspended for PEDs this year, which puts them in company with a few other teams, and that suspension was for an off-season piss test between the 2012 & 2013 seasons. Juast accept that the Seahawks were the best team in the league this season and move on with your lives.

You argue like a tween. Your only contribution to this thread was to shoehorn a negative comment about Richard Sherman in reply to a comment about Marshawn Lynch in a thread about Brandon Browner. Then you decided to troll me with the same tired sh*t you bring to every thread in which the Seahawks are discussed. I could go through my spiel about how what uninformed people think about SB XL has no bearing on my stance, but we'd just end up back here the next time with you trotting out the same tired one-liners to make yourself feel better by accusing me of behavior that I don't exhibit.

Surprising that you submitted the trollish headline about a former Seahawk. I would never have guessed.

It is not remotely surprising, nor comdemnable, that fans of a specific team would enjoy discussing that team. IDK why you think that's some kind of point in your favor. Our team won the SB and beat a remarkably tough run of teams to do it. It merits discussion.

I changed my username because it used portions of my actual name a decided that might not be the smartest way to go should some troll decide they wanted to screw around with me. Then people got all confused, so I put a reference to it in my profile. Maybe not the smartest way to go about it, but it got tiresome having to explain. At least there's another step between you people and some identifying info now. Oh well. I have never been "afraid of getting caught posting" like you claim. What would I be afraid of? I don't say things here that would embarrass me.

Nor do I spend my time going out of my way trying to get a rise out of people like you do.
