Note to younger US players: a good MLS team is better development wise than an awful European team. Sunderland has turned Jozy to shiat; he should have stayed in the Netherlands. Like Johannson.

Watching Spain/Italy immediately following the US team was an absolutely startling reminder of how far away the US is from top-level play. It was like watching Little League followed by the World Series. The US team just looks so slow, plodding and clumsy on the ball when you watch teams who can actually play the sport properly immediately afterwards.

To be fair, only a handful of players in consideration for the World Cup squad were playing today, with key players like Donovan and Bradley not being called up due to MLS season starting soon (well, Bradley was called up, but then was called back to TFC. Dempsey is the only MLSer that played today, and he was on loan at Fulham). Not to mention that 3 out of the 4 defenders that started today don't usually start for the US when the US is at full strength, so there's that as well.

Seriously, a guy who uses the incredibly funny 'baby jeebus' internet autojerk must be an incredibly talented player himself not to mention how witty he appears.

Sure, but Spain could have rested every single one of their best eleven and still looked like Major Leaguers to the US's Little Leaguers.

The State Department called Klinsmann and demanded that we tank that match.   Guaranteed.

That backline better not make it onto the pitch in Brazil unless the injury bug hits real bad.

Certainly if our team isn't good enough, we should be allowed substitutions.

Most 'Mericans don't care about soccer, so why should they care about a soccer exhibition game?

/I bet it has to do with that river I keep hearing about.

Trocadero: Note to younger US players: a good MLS team is better development wise than an awful European team. Sunderland has turned Jozy to shiat; he should have stayed in the Netherlands. Like Johannson.

Jozy is shiat.  That's the real problem

Jozy is one moody biatch. Yea...Sunderland is crap but he pulls this crap a lot. I dont know if he needs to come back to the US post WC, Maybe if Sunderland starts trying to sell him to an MLS team now post EPL season he will be happier. I highly doubt he will be motivated if they get relegated down. They mentioned it last night that where he played before Sunderland, they don't play tough defense. Aron Johannson is there now and said the same thing and he is leading that league in goals now. I worry more about the backline which is total crap. This team will go only as far as Bradley, Landon, and Clint can carry them.

Wasn't pulling it in the Eredivisie; he had, what, back to back 20 goal seasons?  Sunderland's a farking mess that's only getting back to decent form under Poyet.

Jozy should've gone to somewhere like Swansea or even West Ham.

Nope, Bradley is the lone star of this team, and this team simply cannot play competitively without him against decent teams.

I was being generous with Clint and Landon. They honestly have no other real stars besides Bradley. I hope Johannson steps up but I doubt it will be in this WC cycle

The issue with Johannsson is that he currently needs to be off the ball to be really effective.  He might do well with Altidore (if he wasn't in a slump), but I have yet to see Klinsmann try that combination for long periods of time.

The US team's next hope would be pulling Julian Green away from Germany, but I think he may be too talented for Germany to let him get away.
