And yeah....... where were the Carolina cheerleaders in the telecast?? I'm all for New England in most things, but let's face it, the hotties:butterface ratio is far more favorable down south. What gives?

2004-02-01 11:36:32 PM
Duke sucks.

2004-02-01 11:37:16 PM
Carolina, you can now return to your normal lives as fairweather fans.

2004-02-01 11:37:17 PM
There was a game tonight?

/Shrugs shoulders and goes back to doing what he was doing.

2004-02-01 11:37:26 PM
Maybe John Kerry rigged this to make John Edwards look like a loser.

2004-02-01 11:38:09 PM
the 2 point non conversions are irrelevant, they still would have been down 1 point

The sweetest 2 points was the snap to Kevin Faulk, aw yeeeeeah. Those were the only points he scored all year. Big props to Deion Branch and Mike Vrabel too.

Carolina played well enough to win but the Pats just had a few more big plays in them.

2004-02-01 11:38:35 PM
The Panthers played the better game. Huh? Then why didn't they win? :P

I'll agree, the Pats don't get any respect. If they did, you wouldn't hear all of the sour grapes from Panther and Colts fans among others. Refs make questionable calls in almost every game. It's not like the refs "like" one team over another.
Also, the media didn't want to see the Pats win because there are no stars on the team that the they can cream their undies over. Brady is as close as you get to being a star and he's pretty low key.

2004-02-01 11:38:53 PM
The refs gave the Pats the game? Eh?? Did you watch the same game I did? I thought the refs called Offensive pass interference on the final drive to give the Pats a first and 20. Also, what about that "Incomplete" pass that Mushin had that was clearly a fumble? Dude tucks the ball in, both feet on the ground, and turns to run and the ball pops out. Thats a fumble. The Pats just plain old played better than Carolina. Too bad for the Panthers.

2004-02-01 11:39:20 PM
My question is: how long before UMASS kids riot?

New England is a rosy, happy, inebriated, and growing more intoxicated by the second, place. Go Pats. My dishwasher must now do the Dance of Shame...

2004-02-01 11:40:46 PM
2 things...

1...who the hell tries for a two pointed not once, but twice? oh yeah...carolina...

2...i found my headline hella better...
Pats win it in Houston; NASA unavailable for comet

not a sports fan so didn't watch it.. how were the commercials?

Ehhh... lame. The homoerotic Charmin commercial was kinda funny. Also see this thread.

keylock71 Hey, did you come up with that one yourself or did you steal it too?

2004-02-01 11:42:19 PM
kickers shouldn't win games, much less championships.

SuperToe has won two of 'em for the Pats.

SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!

Oncogene:
Panthers played a better game.

Huh? Where we watching the same game? See, the Patriots had more points on the board when time ended, which is the objective of the game. Urgo, they preformed better.

Unless there was a side game or somthing.
Then sure, I guess the Panthers played a better whatever it was.

2004-02-01 11:43:15 PM
I was expecting a better game from He Hate Me.

2004-02-01 11:44:00 PM
The Panther's front 4 on defense lost the game--they got no pressure on Brady at all. I'm not disappointed in Fox for the 2 point conversion attempts, but I am mad that he kept all 4 linemen in on the last drive when they had been totally ineffective all game. Sub in another CB or LB, or hell, at least drop Peppers into the flat. Hats off to the Pats--was the best Superbowl in recent memory.

Yes yes yes.

Carolina played well enough to win but the Pats just had a few more big plays in them.

Gotta give props to Delhomme. But the Pats were the better TEAM. Look at the first downs and posessions.

2004-02-01 11:45:03 PM
It's a conspiracy!! Bush wanted the patriots to win so he can convince you that you must be a Bush patriot!! All of a sudden they've been making it to the super bowl since that one memorable day!

shhhhhhhh!

Thought: In 1979, Las Vegas experienced a day that will live in infamy; Super Bowl XIII. The Steelers opened at -3.5 over Dallas, and early action on Pittsburgh pushed the line to 4.5. Late action on the Cowboys pushed the line back to 4, where it settled.

Final score: Pittsburgh 35, Dallas 31. The books had to pay all the Pittsburgh action at 3.5, all the Dallas action at 4.5, and push all the action at 4. Estimates of the losses by the casinos on legal gambling alone ran into the tens of millions of dollars.

I thought about that as the line bounced from 6.5 to 7.5 and settled at 7, especially in the 4th quarter when the Pats led 29-22. Would've been a dark day for the sports books.

As it stands, they made an absolute killing on those Panthers-under parlays.

2004-02-01 11:45:34 PM
A few things:

The Carolina Panthers are the first losers in Super Bowl history to make America respect them more than when they got in there. They could have easily been an '95 Chargers or '99 Falcons. Real football fans knew they werent a joke. Congrats.

It's funny that the Patriots did what the Panthers were supposed to do to win the game (Run the ball well, control the clock)

And to those who say fark the Pats and go Bills; Maybe NE will give your Bills another Pats castoff so you can see their pretty Super Bowl rings.

2004-02-01 11:45:55 PM
GOOOOOOOOOO PATS!!!

Dagnabbit! Why is it so hard to put friggin' HTML in here? My marquee tag gets stripped out. :( Ah, well. The Pats won! *dance*

All this time and that's the response you go with?

You're about as swift as the Colt's offense.

Cry all you want sucker, the Colts and the Panthers are crying in their beers tonight, too. They need your support.

2004-02-01 11:47:43 PM
fark all the pats haters... i'll say it...

DYNASTY!

Whoever was complaining about fixes and penalties is full of shiat. The Patriots lost TWO important penalties. Remember the fumble after that Panthers reception? Should've been a Patriots posession. Uhhh.. I can't remember the other one right now.

2004-02-01 11:49:42 PM
Well I'm glad Steve Bartman isn't being blamed for this one.

2004-02-01 11:49:56 PM
I'm leaving Providence now. If anyone wants a cold one I'll be at Mahoney's pub on Park Ave in Worcester around 12:45.

Yeeaaahhh!

2004-02-01 11:50:17 PM
That was an awesome game. Quit whining about the Pats. They won it fair and square and Panthers got nothing to be ashamed of either. Blaming the refs is the cry of the loser.

2004-02-01 11:50:49 PM
EEEEE!!!!! YAY Pats!

Vrabel for MVP!

2004-02-01 11:51:27 PM
I can't believe the damn Pats win two Superbowls with two field goals while my beloved Titans fall 1 yard short to the Rams and haven't been back since.

All this time? You mean the whole 15 minutes or whatever it is? Wow. So you just sit around hitting reload all day huh? And you call me a sucker.

Go enjoy your unearned win.

I'm picking up what you're throwing down, dog.

I still love baiting the sore losers.

Good farking game. Back and forth all day.

I'm glad to see Bellichick combed his hair for the Super Bowl.

You need to let go of you bitterness grasshopper. It's no good for your aura.

I'd like to see you tell the guys who just played in that game it was an unearned win.

Man, you are a sad, sad little person aren't you?

I'm sorry, but the best part of the Superbowl was the Double A by the Trumpet player during the Star Spangled Banner.

2004-02-01 11:57:22 PM
'Twas an awesome game. I can't remember the last time I saw a Super Bowl that close, that was decided in the last thirty seconds...

Shame I was rooting for the Panthers, though. I've always been a sucker for underdogs, and well... oh, so close.

That is a completely ridiculous statement with no basis in actual fact or football knowledge. There was pressure....a lot of it. Brady is exceptional at moving around in the pocket and releasing quickly to avoid sacks. Even good pressure often doesn't have time to sack Brady.

2004-02-01 11:58:18 PM
keylock: damn right!

jaymz668: get over it...

great game. i'm getting calls from my boys in boston (wish i was there) from fanueil hall...

go pats

Did the image of a guy in a space suit, standing in the middle of a football field on a fake moon ground make anyone else laugh?

For all the sore losers. Great game, and the "game before the game" streak is now over...

Back when I was a young lad, I could produce a triple C on call. Now I don't play at all.

Sniff sniff.

Oh yea, and another thing:

GREAT game. Being a Jets fan, I didn't really care who won. I just wanted a good game.

There is no joy in Mudville...

Total. Farking. Heartbreak.

But the Panthers really put on a good show, it just wasn't there. I could complain about the referreeing, but it wouldn't change anything. I could blame it on Kasay's kickoff, but just as Easily Vinatieri could have made those first two and it wouldn't matter. Or the two blown two-point conversions.

Meh, whatever. Good show, good job, see back in a year.

What a bunch of crap! I'm wasted and I know that was crap! What someone please slap the Panthers head coach for me!? 2 failed 2 point conversions!?!? WTF!?!?!?
The first time he did it I thought he was a tard, the second time made me want to puke on him!

OK. Suppose they just went for extra points instead. Panthers still lose. It was a good strategy.

Duh.

2004-02-02 12:20:37 AM

Daaaamn, that'll leave you sore the next day.

2004-02-02 12:20:57 AM
Not to mention Brady's interception. If he had just taken the sack, the Pats would've gotten a field goal.

Damn, I just remembered that right before I read your post. Well, 8 out of 9 still isn't that bad. I'd go with the "Game Before the Game" winner next year, too, especially with the out-of-date rosters by the time the Super Bowl rolls around again.

2004-02-02 12:22:29 AM
Just a few points:

1. Nobody cares who your favourite team is, so kindly stfu about it unless they are the Pats or Panthers.

2. Nobody cares if you don't like football, so if you're here to tell us that, kindly stfu and go to another thread.

3. Nobody cares if you didn't think this was a great game. It was, and nothing you can say will change that, so stfu and eff off if you're here to mindlessly biatch.

4. Nobody cares if you didn't watch the game, and nobody thinks you're cool because of this either, so stfu about that and go back to listening to alt-rock and crying yourself to sleep.

I think that about covers what I had to say for now.

(Please now flame me and tell me that nobody cares about what I think and that you're all grown up so you can post whatever you want, because that's so cool it makes me want to be your friend. Fags.)
