$700,000 would get you a pretty decent two-bedroom.  $1.6 million could get you a three family brownstone.

The reason we read about this via New York Public Radio stems from Christie dismantling and selling off the assets of New Jersey Public Radio.

Seems the Christie administration had a reason to eliminate non profit media oversight.

Depends on the neighborhood

Half a condo, or generators for a multi-service shelter, police headquarters, a school, and four fire departments.

But, when you look at it like that, it kinda makes it seem like a bad thing to be cheated out of. So, let's compare the amount of money to something it wasn't meant to spent on. How much are space shuttles again? I bet $700k wouldn't buy you a single retro-rocket on one of THOSE babies.

It was my "I can't tell what Subby is trying to say here" face. Is it "ZOMG, this is such a robbery!" or "Big whoop(sarcasm)!"?

All I know about Hoboken involves a giant chicken.  Is it really a rich neighborhood?  The novel didn't make it seem that way when I read it 20+ years ago.

700K is all they needed? A far cry from the 100 Million dollar slush fund the mayor has been demanding.

I could see a mayor asking for a little more than needed but 99.3 Million dollars more than needed just seems criminal

A lot has changed, but you still have the projects on the western part of the city
