As someone who did up a site for a family member a few years ago in Joomla, could someone recommend a better CMS platform?

I want to make use of the domain I bought recently, but it's been a long time since I've done one.

I've turned down jobs because they were drupal-specific. I hope to never log into another system again. I don't even know the developers but I hate their guts.

In all seriousness, Wordpress is a pretty damn decent CMS.

i've never done any CMS other than WP, but my hosting offers all of them, where it will install the backend for you, and get you started immediately... i always wondered how these other ones fair, compared to WP.   Sounds like i'm not missing anything.
