Salmon: What did he do?

FTA: intervening in a personnel matter in which he had a financial stake.
Mango admitted taking out a cash advance on his credit card to loan an undisclosed amount of money to a program colleague to hire a law firm after she was arrested in 2012 at KSC. Court records identify the colleague as "C.T." and "Thomas."

So he helped out a friend and got busted for it? I figured it was kickbacks for contracts.

But after reading on it looked like they were going to fire the person that he helped but he stepped in on her behalf so she could keep her job and pay him back when she probably should have been fired.

Doing time is easy if you aren't housed with a bunch of violent offenders.  Three squares a day, basic health coverage, cable television and plenty of yard time.

So, why was she arrested? What was she arrested for?
And so he helped her out and got a law firm, so she wouldn't be arrested so she could keep her job, and then helped her keep her job after the arresting thing settled to internal investigation?

What? Is he farking her?

That does not sound like something that should be illegal, all he did was try to help out a friend who was going through some personal issues. Seems like a nice guy.

FTFY.

Sounds like a friend at work got nailed for DUI, and he helped her out. NASA security let the police come and drag her away at work... which is probably why they were going to fire her, rather than the charge itself. He intervened as lots of people might in that situation.

Was he sleeping with her? I have no idea...  I guess I am sad for those that assume this, because they can't imagine that somebody might just help out a friend they've known for years, or that a man and a woman at work can have a platonic friendship.

But he had a financial investment as to the outcome as a result of their friendship. So then he gets scrutinized as he may not have been looking out for the best interests of NASA in that regard.

And "Undisclosed amounts of money" usually means big bucks. Loaning that kind of cash tends to ruin friendships. Not loaning that kind of cash tends to ruin affairs.
