I would not only kiss Matt, but I'd lick his butt.

Leo plays a similar charcter just about every time. Pitt has more range and hasnt won for his acting.. perhaps it is the pretty problem. Maybe kevin hart's advice rings true - an industrial accident could be the best thing to happen to them

Leo just seems way too boyish to me. He looks like a kid trying to play a grown up. And I can understand because I have the same problem. I can just never take Leo seriously in anything any more. That's the same problem I had with what's-her-name in Batman Begins. She looked like a teenage girl trying to play a twenty-five year old.

/Which oddly enough, Natalie Portman did with no problem...

Pumpernickel bread: perhaps it is the pretty problem.

Because Matthew McConaughey is hideously ugly?

No question Leo's got chops:  Hell, I thought he deserved it for Aviator:  He did a remarkable Howard Hughes.  But Leo's problem is that his great stuff comes out in years where he gets lost in the shuffle.  He's great, and deserves the praise - but he just happens to be great in a year where there's a standout.

'What's Eating Gilbert Grape' - Was ANYONE going to beat Tommy Lee Jones that year?
'Aviator' - Jamie Foxx glued his eyes shut:  The academy adores it when an actor takes whatever means necessary to become their role.
'Blood Diamond' - Whitaker WAS Idi Amin (Seriously - scary as fark if you ever saw news footage of the guy and how Whitaker just WAS that bastard.)
'Wolf of Wall Street' - I think the role itself was just a turnoff.  Granted...the physicality was sheer brilliance, but it was unmitigated douche porn, and I just don't think the role itself was strong enough for him to overtake McConaughey, who dropped a shiatton of weight, and redeemed an unredeemable character by film's end.

I think the biggest oversight, and one he should have handily won, was last year for D'Jango.  He got SCREWED last year.  But he's Leo - he will get several more nods, and finally will win...but it will probably be for a 'make up' for the times he just had the shiatty luck to get the nod in a year with other performances that were better roles to begin with.  And he gets to bang hot models - so I doubt he's feeling like jumping off a bridge over it any time soon.
