I remember being annoyed back when Marion Cotillard won Best Actress, thinking that the stupid farking Academy was being pretentious and just giving awards to foreigners for the sake of being worldly.

Then I actually watched a few movies with Cotillard, and realized she's a phenomenal actress. We're blessed that the movie world is getting more and more internationalized. More and more talent = more adn more art.

Fortunately they don't make people give back an Oscar for a screw-up.

I'm just happy Frozen won both of its awards. And the Best Movie and Best Director awards seem to have gone the right way. Not too worried about the others, or who got them.

Yeah, that was an embarrassingly bad death scene. She was pretty good the rest of the movie though, although the whole "She's not Talia" thing was a preview the whole CumberKhan denial debacle.

Boooo. Alan Menken was sorely missed from Frozen. I don't understand the love for an ersatz Tangled.

They give more entertaining speeches. Case in point: Alfonso Cuarón.

"Oscars".  Sounds foreign to me.  Mebbe comministsas.

American culture is becoming more international, and international culture is becoming more American in large part due to Hollywood. It's popular (especially in other countries) to pretend that that means we're diluting and cheapening their cultures, but the truth is that we're enriching them (in both senses) and being enriched in return. A Kenyan actress who gets an Oscar-winning role in an American film has achieved a reputation everywhere in the world, not just in the US and Kenya.

Ah, Hollywood. The only industry where outsiders gather in awe to watch the annual distribution of their "attaboy" awards.

That's what they said about SLAVERY, man. Have we learned nothing this Oscar Season?

Why hasn't Fox News picked up yet on this OUTRAGE?

I'm waiting for the outrage that Lupita Nyong'o doesn't call herself an African-American.

Yeah ok. The Grammys, NBA All Stars, Nobel Prize awards, to name a few.

It depends on your definition of American. She was born in Mexico, but she's not USofAmerican.
