mikalmd: So the 1st shot missed when he had a lot of time to  aim and then 2 quick shots for the kill...Makes a lot of sense to me...

Yes, the first shot kicked up debris, which gave Oswald a visual from which to correct for his next shots.

Also, something called adrenalin kicked in.

Also, I used to be a conspiracy buff in my youth.  Then I visited a relative's farm and saw what a Marine marksman could do with a bolt action rifle.  JFK was a sitting duck.

Also, remember that the fatal shot was fired when Kennedy was no more than 88 yards from the book depository.   He was moving almost directly away from Oswald, which is the easiest kind of moving target to hit.

Given some time and ammo to sight in the rifle, I could do that with open sights with pretty much any rifle that is decent enough to shoot 6 to 8 MOA*.  In fact, given just a day or so, I could train someone who never touched a rifle before to do the same thing.

*Minute Of Angle, roughly 1" at 100 yards, so a 6 MOA rifle will put all the rounds in a 6" circle at 100 yards, which is pretty damned mediocre.

JerkyMeat: He re-enforced the magic bullet theory. Good riddance to part of the problem.

Let me know when all the "19 muslim hijackers pulled off 911" witnesses are dead.

How dare he get hit with debris and therefore ruin your wallowing in mental illness years later!  What an asshole.

It's amazing that Obama show's up in the comments of every thread about everything on the internet.  And, of course, your comment is correct.

The more I learn about it, the more I understand why we have so many conspiracy theories. They effed up several parts of the investigation. They hid some mistakes. They put a lot of info under lock-and-key for a very long time. Throw in a run of high-profile assassinations at the time, the cold war, and Vietnam and you have ample fuel for the imagination.

I seriously doubt you could get enough people to be silent long enough to carry out a conspiracy, much less keep it hidden. I understand what motivates the believers, and I don't judge them too harshly.

does if you know how to shoot a rifle from a rest.  You fire, correct your aim, and blam!

Surprisingly small amount of WARREN COMMISHUN COVERUP derp in this thread so far.

Oswald did it, from the sixth floor window of the book suppository, acting alone. For no reason other than that he was a complete loser who wanted to be important.

A type of saw?

A couple of wavy lines?

Brother of a former U.S. president?

Common mistake, because he was drinking from a schooner (Billy Carter) or drinking on a schooner (Teddy Kennedy).

Stupid conspiracy theories. Somebody would have talked by now. Well, somebody besides E. Howard Hunt. And this guy. And all the other witnesses who saw gun flame and smoke in an unofficial location.

The simplest explanation is usually the right one: Oswald was the lone gunman, and a mobbed-up, successful nightclub owner sacrificed his life as a free man to avenge Kennedy's killer while the hapless Dallas police looked on. That's how selfless strip club owners are, and I've known a few.
