You go Bill!  Of course I'm sure they just intended to put Ramis in next year as his death occurred in 2014, but I think farking Bill Murray is correct.  Ramis was a true giant.

Harold Ramis was shown in the memorium segment. Not sure what this clip is from. Maybe the post Oscar interviews?

They included Hoffman, so I'm sure Ramis would have been in there

The clip is from Murray presenting during the ceremony after awkwardly complimenting copresenter Amy Adams.  I forget which category - Best Supporting Score for a Short Animated Documentary or Somesuch.

Couple of questions:
Did BM only mention the Ramis movies he was in?
Was Ramis the cinematographer on those movies?

Ramis was in the In Memorium montage, Dennis Farina wasn't. And that's not right.

Bill Murray was as awkwardly awesome as we've all come to expect. He just doesn't care. At all. And hence, we get this. It was great.

OK, I'm with a few others here, when was this? Did Ramis make it in, or NOT make it in to the In Memorium segment? If he DID, then what exactly is the point of this, and why did it go green?

Also, why would I want to watch Murray at the Oscars? I was having MUCH more fun watching him last night on Palladia hosting the 2010 Crossroads Guitar Fest. That shiat was awesome.

Bill Murray giving a shout out to Harold Ramis and Ramis' inclusion/non-inclusion in the Memorium segment aren't necessarily related.

They should just farm out the memorium segment to Turner Classic Movies. Their year-end obit reels are always very cool.

Then why is everyone treating this like it's Murray including a tribute to Ramis because they somehow ignored him?

This.  Basically it was Murray's shoutout of the fact that  Harold Ramis received very few rewards over his career, and just about all comedy since the early 80s has been heavily influenced by his work.  The only awards I can find him getting were the BAFTA for original screenplay for Groundhog Day (it wasn't even nominated in the Academy Awards that year, while for some reason "Sleepless in Seattle" and "Dave" were), and he is in the St Louis Walk of Fame, and got a Distinguished Screenwriter Award from the Austin Film Festival in 2005.
No offense to Steve Martin, but if Steve Martin deserves an honorary award, so did Harold Ramis.

So if Ramis has been sick for like 4 years, how has GB3 ever been a realistic thing?

2014-03-03 01:43:14 PM
Facts:

1) Ramis and Murray made up. The feud was over. There was no hypocrisy,
2) Ramis was in the montage. Third or fourth from the end. Hoffman was the last.
3) Montieth was not included. He was a TV actor. This was appropriate.
4) Farina was left out, which was f-ing ridiculous.

2014-03-03 01:45:50 PM
"Feuding" might be too big a word.  That kind of implies name calling and big fights in the front yard.

It sounds like they had a bad experience together on Groundhog, then Murray moved on without saying goodbye.  It's sad.  It avoided confrontation, but also risked leaving things unresolved or unacknowledged.

I sometimes wonder what it must be like to be so funny that everyone in America would just back a money truck up on to my lawn and hit "dump."  Bill Murray had that, but then there was this weird period where he just disappeared only to re-emerge playing Polonius in Hamlet.  The internal drive for him to do that must have been incredibly strong.  The external pressure to go back and do something ha-ha funny must have been pretty fierce as well.  Sounds like his relationship with Ramis got caught in that crossfire.

After the other nominee names were read for Best Cinematography, presenter Bill Murry took a moment to add Harold Ramis to the list.  Bill got big applause for it, apologized to the other nominees for the interruption, and then they got back on track and opened the envelope.  It was as classy and polite as possible while still being off script for the show.

Ramis was part of the In Memorium tribute.

I suspect all his role would have amounted to was a cameo, or very small part. Until he was on his death bed, even when sick he could have powered through a day or two of filming.
