I am pretty sure spring training doesn't count

Mike seems like a smart kid.

He was drafted by the Red Sox out of high school but opted to play in college at Vandy instead.  After college, he was drafted by the O's and signed with them.  I can see why it might be a bad move to end up in Boston only because he might be accused of being a product of nepotism if things ever went poorly.

His grandfather (the more famous Yastremski) has had some pretty positive things to say about the O's organization-- as an O's fan, I like hearing this.

I'm a Sox fan, but have always had a place in my heart for the Orioles.  I think a lot of it has to do with growing up while Cal was playing.

If he makes the team, I'm awfully tempted to pick up a Yastrzemski Oriole's jersey.

That's neat. Wish him luck but that is one hell of a shadow to play under.
He's better off starting his career with any team other than the Red Sox. Too much pressure.

I feel old! I remember listening to the Sox on the AM radio with my dad while he fired up the grill in Ludlow, MA in the mid-70s. Yaz had a weird stance at the plate, and my friends and I would try to emulate it.

With Yaz, that might mean there's a policy on smoking 2 packs of cigarettes in the clubhouse before a game.  Or maybe there's some players with triple crown potential.  Either / or.
