Actually, I couldn't find any evidence in the article that he was using "booze" at all.

I had to go here to find out it was a few drops of whiskey.  Maybe the dregs of the last shot?

Makes you wonder if different liquors have different effects when lit.  I see an experiment in my future...

It's not exploding.  There is no shock wave, which is required for the technical definition of "explosion".  It doesn't even appear to be undergoing confined deflagration, which most people include in the non-technical definition (like the Boston Marathon bombs)

It's merely igniting.
