Good kid. Misplaced devotion to the military, but his mom seems to be raising him right.

Maybe his father should have stayed in school, instead of opting for a jobs program that affords him instant respect (from morons), and very little to show afterward.

For the detractors:

Disagree with the wars. Fine. Don't like the politics? Fine. Hate the people in charge? Fine.

Whatever the wars, politics, or people in charge, the kids dad died. The only way the kid can make some sense of it is to help a man in uniform.

If you troll this thread, EABOD. I am done with you.

Kid's breaking the law. He lights reported the $20 found to police then waited to reclaim it then given it to some soldier then called the news to report hisself as an admirable citizen.

Also his dad died for a paycheck. Our freedom was never in jeopardy. Did any assholes point that out yet?

Maybe you should have learned how to use a comma properly so it's a little more difficult to dismiss you as a moron in your own right and take your STRONG TAKE more seriously. Then again, you did seem to master that "embed image" button. So, ya know, aces for you.

Liveleak steals content, it used to be youtube, now they're moving on to news.

Since fark doesn't allow dupe submits, people will submit "secondary" sources for their greenlights.

When my wife and I were at our poorest, and well under the poverty line, I found a twenty dollar bill on the way to the train station. On the way home I bought a bottle of wine and a copy of Scrabble. That was one of the greatest times we had back then. Things have gotten much better for us in the twenty years since. But I never again felt such a thrill from a windfall.

Nice story, Subby.

In honor of his dad's memory, the Ohio boy wrapped the money in a touching handwritten note and handed it to Lt. Col. Frank Dailey who was eating lunch at the restaurant:

And that's why Dailey is a Lt. Colonel, he knows how to take an act of generosity and turn it into a publicity stunt.

F**k war. This doesn't have to happen. Whenever I see a joyous reunion of a parent or spouse that surprises a kid at school or wife at work, all I can think is, "They should never have been separated in the first place."

2014-03-02 09:39:43 AM
Did the soldier use the $20 to buy a video game instead of the kid, then?

2014-03-02 10:06:17 AM
Am I really going to be the first one to suggest that the kid's mother put him up to this? Considering he was only 5 weeks old when his father was killed, it seems much more likely that she's the one who is reminded of him after seeing a soldier in uniform. Also that note doesn't read like it was written by an eight year-old at all.

2014-03-02 10:14:22 AM
Thanks Facebooksubby

This crap is just so farking stupid.

Also, it's not your money, kid. You're being raised wrong.

Sorry about your dad, kid.

It was a monumental crime and still is a crime that Bush/Cheney had national guards in Iraq and Afghanistan. Period end of story.

I hate to be cynical about a story like this - but, it does seem a little contrived to me. But, even if it is , I wish the kid and his family all the best and I hope something positive comes from the publicity

All these are contrived by the moms, who also are the ones who call a freaking reporter and report what a hero their kids are.

Last week's Amazing Little Girl who handles snakes story? Her dad owned a herpatarium. That story was a herp a derp. Guess who called the reporter on that one? I bet her mom and dad were sitting around late at night trying to figure out how to get free advertising and that's how that story was born.
