There's nothing at all wrong with it. I would encourage it.

Rahm is cold-blooded as it is. He'll do fine.

Yeah, no thanks. Heart attacks run in my family.

The last time I did something like this, it was completely unintentional. Its also the last time I will ever walk across ice with headphones in.

Pretty sure the neighbor kids learned some new words AND got to see a grown man naked.

Beats the time I caught the back yard on fire.

Yes there was alcohol involved.

This isn't some amateur hour operation.  They've prepped the area and continue to prevent a section from icing over.

Nope. Join the rest of us Chicagoans. Hopefully he'll drag along Tod Stroger, Pat Quinn, Mancow and the Daleys along and sink to the icy icy bottom.

I've been in Lake Michigan in February. And it only counts if you entirely submerge.

That's just cheating.  They might as well just have people run through a sprinkler.

In a normal year, this is a damned cold adventure.  This year, in this part of the country, we are seeing record cold - as the meteorologist said this morning, it has been a soul-crushing winter.  Best of luck to them.  They're going to need it.  Only someone with an IQ equal to the temperature would voluntarily jump into Lake Michigan this winter.

I once jumped into Lake Michigan. In August. I think I got out within five minutes, it was too damn cold.

I grew up on Lake Michigan, southern part. I used to go swimming every summer.

Then when I moved to NC I remember the first time I went in the ocean, I was like WTF IT'S BOILING HERE? WHERE IS...WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WATER?

/went back to Lake Michigan in August a few years later. Couldn't stand it.

Lake Michigan is always cold for the first few (20) minutes but then you go numb and have fun swimming. That's in the summer. In the winter? Hell no.

They cut a hole in the ice, probably.

There was a charity event 'round these parts two or three weeks ago.  I didn't participate, but I saw a person leave for it and come back immediately afterward.  She was far from happy.  And had no memory of how she got out of the water.

I was a Polar Bear swimmer in Girl Scouts growing up, and briefly flirted with the idea of doing one of the charity jumps.  Not anymore.

I was there in July.  Really?  You just have to keep moving for the first ten minutes.  After that it's pleasant.  If you're jumping in and not wading in, you just need someone to shove you in either verbally or physically.  Then you're good.

Did you jump in or walk in?  Beer-fueled jumping in seems like it'd be dangerous as heck, but the lake's been so damn shallow on the edges the last half dozen times I've gone in that it seems like you'd have to wade in forever before you could dramatically completely submerge.

I hear it's fun after a sauna, but it might Finnish me. *snicker*
