This is clear evidence that the EBT system needs to be dismantled. Then we could use that money... to give a tax cut to the rich.

Medicinal marijuana in particular. I bet they don't want to blacklist Lipitor or any other medication.

So somebody receiving cash benefits (which is a really small number of 'welfare' recipients when compared to people on SNAP) will just need to hit up an ATM in the neighborhood. What exactly is the point of these restrictions again?

If a physician prescribes a particular medication, it should be treated just like any other prescription medication. Of course, it is true that some physicians may be prescribing marijuana inappropriately, but that should be addressed in the same way as inappropriate prescriptions for, say, Oxycontin would be handled. This isn't rocket surgery.

Besides creating the impression everyone receiving welfare are lazy, pot-smoking, lobster-eating good-for-nothings who just need to go out and get a job and start being makers instead of takers?

Not much.

Clearly we need to drug test all welfare recipients even though it would cost more than the actual fraud

Please stop linking the Herald. It's Boston's version of the Daily Fail: even if the story isn't completely made up, it's still framed in the worst way to piss off stupid right-wingers who love to be pissed off about how liberal they perceive society to be leaning.

Poor people are supposed to suffer, and many are willing to spend any amount of money and deprive any number of people of benefits, in order to prevent a few people from living an ok life while receiving benefits.

No booze, no fridges, no tv, no cell phone, and no pot.  They should be going door to door begging their betters to employ them at the lowest wage possible. They should be working two or three jobs. At the same time they work long hours at multiple jobs and still are poor enough to be on welfare of some kind, they should be bringing wages down further by working harder and sacrificing more in a race to the bottom against one another.  They should get educated, except when Obama tells them they should, and it shouldn't involve any illusions of becoming a thinker of some kind - they should relegate themselves to trades; that way they can lower the value of those until they are sub-middle class jobs as well. Meanwhile, as many people as possible should be locked up for their crimes in for-profit prisons where they can steal jobs from the people who have committed no crimes by working while in jail - for slave wages of course. After all, they deserve it since they committed a crime. They also deserve neither OSHA nor the EPA to protect them from corporations, because incorporating is next to godliness. I may have left a talking point or two out.

I'd love for that to be something people don't actually think, but it really is the sum total of all the various attacks on welfare that come from the right.

If I promise to stay off welfare, can I have free pot then?

Well, at least we're not teaching them to grow plants in their own homes!

What would happen to the grocery industry then??

EBT=useful

Marijuana EBT=geez, your pot's so good you haven't found a seed yet??

Thank god money isn't fungible or this would be really stupid.

2014-03-01 03:23:17 PM
Welfare for hooker and blow is still ok though right?

2014-03-01 03:27:24 PM
They're already doing a fine job of trying to kill medical marijuana here in Washington by attempting to lump it in with the recreational. Never mind that we voted on it.
And I could see EBT paying for it, but only after they make the requirements for getting a marijuana card kick out 99% of the state population.

If you have a prescription your dope is covered.

We can't very well argue that not covering birth control is a "war on women" then in the next breath declare war on medicinal marijuana.

Ok, but no CO dispensaries accept EBT for payment... we're solving yet another non-existent problem

"I would argue the ATMs shouldn't be in the RMDs (registered marijuana dispensaries),"

So ensure that all the customers carry cash? What could possibly go wrong?!?

I'm taking the "freedom of religion" route.

Come join the pimple-cursed legion in our worship of Farkism!

Much like Catholicism, Farkism declares all birth control to be a sin and affront to both God and nature.

The only path to grace for those who desire family planning is a diet rich in Mountain Dew, Cheetos and pot.
Each having been selected by the Great Bottle (markings of Maker be upon him) for their holy and sterilizing attributes.

Though note:, we do not challenge the Lord our Bottle's remedy by testing our fruitfulness with the mysterious and fear-inducing opposite sex.

For to do such would require leaving the basement, and this would anger him. Ye, verily.

Not to mentio in many states the EBT card has multiple uses, suchas medicaid or child support

2014-03-01 05:14:17 PM
I hadn't even thought of that.

Well if the dispensaries could count on being able to accept credit / debit without having their bank accounts seized they wouldn't have to operate on a cash-only basis.  Thus ensuring safety and convenience for customers, plus the ability to turn down EBT.

This is about to get pretty ironic...

After reading the comments in TFA about 'libtard potheads' I have to say this: After all the GOP grandstanding all the time trying to pass laws 'for the children' and repeatedly saying "If this only helps ONE CHILD then it'll all be worth it"; well, here is your crow to eat: Charlotte Figi IS that one child that is being helped by Medical Marijuana. Now STFU and bugger off.

Well, in that, it's becoming disappointingly like tobacco - when was the last time you saw a tobacco seed?
