FTA: If you have paid even a lick of attention to the trailer, you pretty much know what happens to his wife played by Juliete Binoche and that it all gets more than a little bit Wrath of Khan.

Ah, Godzilla, my old friend. Are you aware the Klingon proverb that tells us "revenge is a dish that is best served cold"?

It is very cold... in spaaace. :P

Isn't Godzilla a good guy in this one? I seem to remember chatter that Mothra, or some critter, could be briefly detected in the trailers.

Other than Bryan Cranston looking a little wrong with hair, I loved this trailer. Very much looking forward to the movie.

I was disappointed that the movie isn't a thousand-foot Bryan Cranston breathing nuclear fire onto Tokyo and making the Godzilla noise.

Could be the other monster(s) are responsible for what happens to Cranstons wife and he goes looking for a way to stop them, stumbling across the big guy along the way.  I'm not saying he turns Godzilla into his Zord or anything, more like he finds out about Godzilla then tries to point him in the direction of the baddies.

The producers have hinted that Godzilla is a "wrath of nature" beast in this one, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

I'm hoping this one doesn't have any of that 'humans come together' inspirational bullshiat like that late 90's one. I wanna watch this for one reason and one reason only: TO WATCH GODZILLA RUIN SHIAT! I wanna see an ending with smoldering ruins, bodies everywhere, Godzilla wiping his ass with a fistful of humans, and him maybe taking a break to survey the damage while smoking a bong, drinking some whiskey, then wailing out on his guitar!

Oh, and then he'd gets him some:

Is this the same public that made Glee a top rated show, American Midol a cash cow screaming runaway success, Justine Brieber a gazillionaire, and Microsoft the biggest software for-profit company in the world?

Yea. Thanks. But...how about...no? Will no work for you? I hope so, cause...no.

All I give a damn about is if this version isn't made with farking strobe lights.  I walked out of the last one because the director thought good cinematography meant very dark, nearly pitch black scenes interrupted by random flashes of light.  fark that shiat.  I left the theater with a goddamn migraine.  farking asshole.

Even better, now there seems to be a trailer-meme where you get a black screen, in fades 'something' - a guy walking, a shot of a storefront, whatever, then less than a second later, fade back to black.  Repeat throughout most if not all of the trailer.  fark you, trailer-editing guy.  I hope your beer goes stale, you farking hack.

I have a cabin in the woods with your name all over it.  None of those bothersome people around and not a hint of society anywhere.

Bad news, you'll only have woods and woodland animals to hate on.

Godzilla ended up being a misunderstood beast like King Kong early on, so no harm no foul from my end.

This. Looks pretty awesome for reasons and because Ken Watanabe.

Trailers make the Matthew Broderick version look shiattier than it was, and it was pretty shiatty.

I was so excited to go see the last Godzilla movie at the local drive in. What a let down. Between the dark scenes and the light pollution from the warehouses next door, the whole thing was unwatchable. Same thing with Cloverfield.

That's not too bad. Every time I hear BOC's Godzilla it turns into Smells Like Teen Spirit in my head, which is not OK.

The Quote it is not mine but i like it.

"It's Lovecraftian horror, or at least aspects of it. Listen to the terror on Cranston's voice, the despair in Watanabe's. These are men reeling from a full-frontal assault by an implacable, unimaginably powerful and destructive force. The indifferent fury of nature in physical form. Deep time that walks.

The world you thought you knew, where humans were safe and secure and special is shattered. You're just a link in the food chain. Worse, actually. You're an ant crawling in the middle of the pavement, and here comes the boot, And the horror is that you know just enough to comprehend how f***ed you and everyone is. Howard would be proud."

Same here. I've heard little blips and blurps about the sequel, but I guess it's a matter of JJ Abrams getting done with his 10000000000 other projects to actually get it done.

Odd bet to take. Since, Godzilla has always won. (Even King Kong didn't really "defeat" him, considering he was alive at the end.) The only thing that has ever beaten Godzilla has been himself (though, MechaGodzilla might have won, had Rodan not given his lifeforce to save him), when he ate some radiation because he was bored, so he melted down.

1 Cloverfield was awesome, however all it did was bust shiat up and dump a bunch of scabies on biatches and hoes. Godzilla has the nuclear breath thing.

Looks to me like its just a new telling of the original plot. "Can you kill it?" Why yes, Heisenberg is the one who knows how to kill it.

The soldiers with the red flares are setting up his experimental weapon. Its in New York instead of Tokyo this time.

Yawn...

(Godzilla 1998 was so horrible, thank God Toho made some newer films after that to wash the franchise clean).

Hollywood should be banned from making Godzilla movies.

honestly i saw the trailer and thought it looks stupid.  it was a typical disaster movie trailer, shots of random destroyed buildings and people running and screaming, and some guy ranting "you don't understand!  it's going to destroy everything!"  and then some other somber guy saying "man is too arrogant, he thinks he can conquer nature!"  and then a bunch of flashing images like a strobe light in an attempt to build suspense.  and then a final, blurry shot of the monster.  pretty boring and unoriginal if you ask me.

2014-03-01 01:46:56 AM
Lots of Inception "braaaanffff" in that trailer. God I'm beginning to hate that sound.
