Hey, it's hard to prosecute people with money.

It's too bad, stolen art, poaching, and looted archeology are big international problems.

Makes sense to me. If you are going to hide a giant warehouse full of the world's great mysteries and treasures, Queens is as good a place as any.

Who is going to say to themselves:   I am looking for the Ark of the Covenant and thousands of treasures of equal or greater value. I know, it must be in the Borough of Queens.

Yeah, really, it's just as likely to be in Levittown, Long Island.

According to some, the Holy Grail is in Nova Scotia or possibly Montreal.

If you are looking for incontrovertible proof of the reality of evolution, all you have to do is tour the back roads of Mississippi and Alabama, stopping at any small white clapboard chapel you find.

Some places just accumulate stuff.

You know what I find amazing about America? It has a lot of stuff. I mean, really, really, quite sincerely, a lot of stuff. Stuff on a Roman or Nazi scale of kleptomania. You've got London Bridge in Arizona. There are pieces of all the great architectural monuments of Europe at San Simeon and the Getty Villa.

But New York is really packed with great stuff. If you can't find it there, you can't find it anywhere.

New York has an entire Egyptian temple and the Cloisters in Manhattan has one of the world's largest collections of medieval art and manuscripts. I'd absolutely agree that America probably has the largest collection of just outright treasure that's ever been assembled. Anything that's valuable, and can be bought with money ends up in the US eventually.

For those who did not RTFA,

This is not about a government warehouse that houses secret stuff.

It is about stolen art.   No secret government warehouses involved.

Queens usually get very excited when you start talking about "Top Men".

having worked for the government these past 33 years I can honestly say there are a LOT of warehouses like the ROTLA one.   I recall 12 of them in Okinowa on US bases, one in Kansas City, four in Seattle, two in CA on camp Pendleton, one in Nevada....

they are all over the place.

Aye.

Don't take that tone with me my good man! Now buttle off and tell Baron White that Lord Clarence McDonald and his lovely assistant are here to view the tapestries!
