I can't believe they're actually bringing back the plan to build The Drilldo (the spire).

Has NY vs Chicago pizza become a daily thread requirement?  You don't need to be located somehwere specific to make a great pizza.  You just need a masonary oven, hardwood fuel, quality ingredients and a skilled person.  An electric oven and pizza stone can make an acceptable substitue in a pinch.

Is it too much to ask for before-and-after pictures to be from roughly the same general location? "Here is a before picture taken from a helicopter flying over the city, and here is what it will look like afterwards if you were sitting on a park bench on the other side of the river."

So most of the improvements will take a picture of an existing structure and then picturing the same structure but from a different angle!

I'm sure this will cost a few billion dollars to get those new perspectives just right.

McCormick Place doesn't need expansion. The rest of it is fine and not at all unexpected.

Yeah, it's a lame cliche that's been beaten to death. I'll eat the hell out of NY style pizza, Chicago deep dish, or St. Louis thin crust.

Came here to complain about the same thing. Someone was lazily looking through Getty images and there was no budget to fly someone out to take pics from the same vantage point. Article was worse for it.

Sorry, libbos, but the real future of America lies in our nations rural areas.  That's why I live here.

Nobody wants to live in dumps like New York or Chicago anymore.  They're so expensive.

Dude, Fark etiquette (what little we have) suggests that you keep your rants in the appropriate place (politics). What we're about to embark on here is a pizza fight. I'm from New Orleans so I don't know sh*t about good pizza, but we do have some up-and-comers in Magazine Pizza, Louisiana Pizza Kitchen, Big Pie, and Pizza Delicious. None of it compares to what I've had in NYC, Chicago, or even Philly. Also, you can't get a slice here. What the f*ck is that all about? Sometimes you just want to fold a big slice in half and eat on the run. An oyster po-boy isn't mobile food, no matter how many times I've tried.

mistrmind: But the Sox still haven't won the World Series.

They won a few years ago. As a Cubs fan, it pains me to say this, but the last time the Cubs won the World Series, the Ottoman Empire still existed.

You see all those open spaces, where all the families of various cultural backgrounds are enjoying themselves in the artistic examples?  That's the fantasy.  Since this is Chicago, the reality will be panhandlers, crack dealers, prostitutes, cubs fans, and other such low lives.

In the future, there will still be product placement.

This future brought to you by Chevrolet.

Chevrolet. The only company that builds cars for Americans, in America, with American robots.

A side note to tourists: The whole Navy Pier thing, that is just for you guys, enjoy that stained glass museum and your one loop around the Ferris Wheel and the mall food court area, or if you are feeling high end you can go to Bubba Gump.

That area needs a complete redo because it is the suck.

I'm glad I have the ability to enjoy both styles of pizza. It would suck to be one of those adults who won't eat something because, "Ewww...That's not what I'm USED TO!"

I also like Midwestern-style pizza, which is a mediocre, somewhat non-descript pizza of moderate crust thickness. You can get Midwestern-style pizza at places with names like, Pizza Pit, Paul Revere's, La Rosa's, etc.

Fark the pizza-battle-bait. If I want good pizza I make it at my house.

Concerning the article, there are so many proposed bridges that The Dave Matthews Band is starting to stuff themselves with fiber filled goodness in anticipation of dropping anchor.

What, now that the suburban experiment is failing due to increasing fuel prices, people think they'll make cities attractive to the very people that high tailed it to the suburbs?

I'm shocked, shocked I say.
